What's the "coolest-looking" credit card?

in Credit cards
I need to get a credit card for some section-75 protection on buying some electrical goods, and for some overseas spending.
It's going to get paid in full at the end of the month, so the interest rate doesn't matter.
With this in mind, instead of going for a boring card from my bank, I'm looking for the "coolest-looking" card.
I know you can't get the see-through Amex with the blue gem in the middle anymore, but is anything out there that is:
*see through?
*made of metal?
*a funny shape?
*with a lava-lamp-ish goo in the middle?

lol
anyway.... RBS are doing a thing where you can personalise your credit card with whatever photo you want (I assume within reason:eek:) of your own or one of their stock photos.... you can pretty much get what you want then..... dunno about any of your requirements though lol ....Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 784 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
OK well i've found a couple of candidates...
the middle one of these:
or maybe one of these...
(although amex isnt very widely accepted...)
these look quite cool for the shape:
hmm... any other candidates?0 -
If for overseas spending, you looked at the threads about the Nationwide and Post Office cards - they're the cheapest for international transactions?
Mint personalised cards if you really care about the look of the thing."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Yeah - Personally - despite the fact you aren't looking for a special thing I'd suggest going with a cashback card for your electricals and the nationwide card for your overseas.
I know it's awfully practical - but it's the way I see it. Besides - if you get a Cap One cashback card - you can choose from designs - I've got a nice black one with lightning on it.
I'd avoid the funky shaped Mint cards like the plague - they don't work in a lot of automated card machines. The Red AmEx looks good but doesn't give *you* anything - but arguably the product (Red) movement is a good charity type movement to be a part of.0 -
Asda [GE Money] card is a nice matt black. Egg Money card is a nice bright green0

Is it just me? Does it really matter?
Sorry, but it seems really weird to me to even be asking the question (but I was intregued enough to look at the thread

Wyndham
could be a status symbol ie: look at my card it's fan dabby dossy innit lol....0 -
It's more of a "hmm... I wonder what's cool out there" than a serious buying decision point.
If it's a choice between Card A with a nice look, or Card B with a nice lump of cashback, a 0% offer, and a free kitten thrown in...
...it'd be Card A. I don't like kittens.

HSBC's looks refined and business-like (or a cross between Amex red and Capital One Classic). It's prettyful, but then I have odd tastes

Capital One let you choose your own design, but only from a limited selection and they're all bloody awful. I ended up using the corporate-looking one because I'd feel like a tw*t pulling out a card with a big St. George's Cross on it.
NatWest have a feature where you can put any image you like on their cards, but they do reserve the right to veto what you put on them (nothing copyrighted or offensive basically) and really, unless you're a graphic designer it'll probably look like crap.
Go for an Amex Green if you can get it, it's a charge card (so you HAVE to pay the balance back) and it's all see through and pretty.0
