Bosch Washing Machine Problem

We have a Bosch Excel machine that doesn't take its fabric conditioner.
I checked that it is siphoning out ok and it is.
We are getting a lot of 'black residue' building up inside the drawer and the water outlet holes on the top of the drawer compartment...could this be part of the problem?
Have thought about putting some dishwasher cleaner through it to see if it helps?
Any ideas Guys?

Hello,
Youre halfway there! youre right its the black gunge that builds up over time, first of all TURN OFF THE WASHING MACHINE AT THE SOCKET.......next make sure the plug is out... sorry but dont want to kill ya!
Next take the drawer out and separate the little plastic bit that fits inside, soak it in some hot water and using cottob buds and the old toothbrushes that you should always keep get scrubbing....
once you have grazed your knuckles a few times and finished that bit get scrubbing inside the washing machine were the water goes into the drawer, push the bristles from the t/brush into the discharge holes and once clean put it all back together and give it a go.
ALWAYS remove the drawer after each wash and give it a quick rinse out and let it dry= no damp enviroment for the "gunge" to grow in.
Hope it works....Youre not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holdin' on... :beer:0 -
I have Zanussi machine, but the same problem....I think. My "black residue" isn't gunge but seems to be disintegrated rubbery kinda stuff!! No matter how ofter clean out removable drawer it keeps coming back.
Is you "black residue" the same as mine???
I poke cotton buds up into the holes to clear them out, but not a long term solution.
Any one else had this??I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
Yes I get the gungy stuff on my Bosch washer drawer. Have to take it out and scrub it and deep down inside as far as I can.
I think it's soap powder. Do you use soap powder or liquid?.0 -
Don't know if we use powder or liquid....the wifes job
I'll find out.0 -
I recently got my first Bosch washer & I noticed that the instruction booklet advises diluting concentrated fabric conditioner before putting it in their machines, otherwise it might not disperse properly. I know that won't stop the black gunge forming, but being thinner & less clingy might slow down it's reappearance0

I always thought that it was a form of mould and that once you got some it was almost impossible to shift permanently as it spreads into inaccessable parts of the machine so just keeps on spreading back. A bit annoying to do but we try to make sure that we leave the washing machine door open as much as posible so it can dry out properly after each use to try and prevent it.0

A good suggestion from Lemoncurd. We also leave our washing machine door slightly open and we leave the powder/fabric conditioner drawer slightly open too. The flow of air helps to prevent mould.;)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. agreed, I always do that too
also, while researching buying my new machine, I read on a site run by a washing machine engineer, that doing a maximum temperature wash once in a while is also a good idea (I'm sure I've since seen that advice somewhere on this site too)0 -

ok....I've try'd everything suggested and am still having a problem.
I think the problem lies with 'not enough water' in the 'softener' compartment to set up the siphon action.
Its always still about half full with diluted softener at the end of the wash.
I've try'd putting a dishwasher cleaner through. Some in the drum and some in the drawer ect but the problem is the water inlet holes i think. And they are not blocked.
Any ideas?0
