Hey All
Sorry not sure where this should go. But mods - please move if inappropriate.
Anyway I've received a parcel today. Except its not addressed to my name, but to my flat. The box says BT Vision and came with a separate random "Powerline Adapter" or whatever it is, all wrapped up in a clear packaging (hence i can see the boxes). Anyway, what do I do now?! I haven't ordered it, it's recipient is a random guy and addressed to my flat. The delivery man (from Home Delivery Network according to the address label) just left it outside my door whilst i was at work, and tracking it shows "no signature obtained". Great huh?
Anyway who do I contact? Delivery company? BT? My estate agents to get details of who could be the previous occupier some year ago? Or has someone kindly subscribed BT Vision to my address?? Anyway in all seriousness, what should I do with it? (And by that, i DONT mean what are my profitability for ebaying it...) I dont have BT in this flat so unless this mystery person's arranged an engineer to come out to install bb as well, this is a useless piece of kit.
Cheers

Contact the delivery agents, funnily enough I took in one for my neighbour the other day but I think I had to sign for it. The delivery company was delivering to me at the same time and I definitely signed for my own parcel which wasn't a BT box.0

Yeah it is pretty useless unless you have a BT broadband connection. Sometimes the BT vision sales department pick up a customers previous address when ordering because they get excited about their sales bonuses and become less attentive than they should be.
HDNL should not be leaving packages without a signature, that's against the agreement BT have with them. At the very least it should be signed for by a neighbour.
What you could do is phone the vision service team on 0800 800 900 and ask them to email the North Allerton depot to arrange for a collection.
When they realise their mistake once the real customers shouts at them and gets angry, then the warehouse will try and reclaim the misdelivered package, so you might even get a knock at the door without having to do anything.0 -
Thanks both! So i gave them the phonecall today. Unfortunately i didnt have any of the account details as stated on the label with me as i phoned from work, and when i requested it to be collected they were like NOOO NO NO NO You dont have the details etc etc. Apparently just my address isnt enough, even though they sent them here. The woman was rude to me, i pointed out im actually trying to help them but she was taking none of it.
So anyway, whilst i was there i thought i may as well ask if any account's been set up to my address which they forwarded me to some guy - who confirmed it wasn't set up. I asked what i should do with the box and he was like 'Ahhhhh just ignore it man... dont worry about it'. Okay.... i asked just out of curiosity if i can keep it even if its not named to me and he was like 'yeeeahhh, thats fine'. are they really not that bothered?!
the thing is, having read up on the 'Powerline Adapter' that came with it, i can actually do with it!! but anyway - what do i do now?! I spent a long time on hold to them so i wont be phoning back in hurry!
