DFS sofa problem

I agree with Dave, give them a chance first. We had a sofa from DFS almost 2 years ago, and when it was unpacked it had a large scratch in the leather and the footstool was missing. we spoke to the manager and they came out and repaired the scratch. When the footstool eventually arrived it turned out not to match the sofas. It was close, but not perfect. The manager admitted they had made a mistake and refunded over half the cost of the stool. To be honest, I have heard all the horror stories, but my sofas look as good now as the day I bought them, and DFS were quick to resolve all the problems so for now, be nice and see what they say0

I had an ongoing problem with DFS since November of last year and each month they sent out a lovely upholsterer (sp?) to deal with the issue. Each time I phoned the store (5 in total) the girls who dealt with the calls were verging on rude, but the man who fixed the issue was lovely. He came out monthly and the second to last time advised me to call customer services and have them deal with the issue. When I did they accessed my notes and saw his advice. The problem was (hopefully) finally solved in March, but everyone other than the store staff were great. I'd advise you not to worry too much, that sounds like what they said to me each time, but the guys they send are well trained and usually very experienced. They will know that the fault isn't yours!0

Well the man has been today. He agreed the sides were not suitable for sitting on they are too high.He took the sofa apart and said the problem was the board the bolts fit into, it had moved outwards. He said the board was stapled on, he removed the staples and screwed it in.He thinks it will be ok.
I was so releived, he said if there are any more problems to ring and he will be out within 2 days.He seemed to be aware of the problem before he took it apart, I wonder if it is a design fault?
Anyway im happy for now, thanks for all your advice.0 -
I just want to rant about an order we placed for a corner group from DFS. Waited for 3 months and then received a call that it was going to be delayed so it eventually arrived 4 weeks late.
Furthermore, when delivery was attempted no effort was made whatsoever in getting it through and the delivery men claimed the suite wouldn't fit - even though we had a DFS rep come in to check the sizes etc prior to ordering. We even went to the extent of ordering the corner group as 3 pieces rather than 2 just to be on the safe side.
The manager of the store has offered money back or ordering another suite, but aside from this we were horrified to discover when we rang head office of the false notes which were placed on the system. One of the notes claimed that the sofas wouldn't fir through the window or go through the back - The possibility of this was not even mentioned to us, let alone investigated by the delivery drivers, so goodness knows how they came to this conclusion!
This saga is still on going, but since people may be tempted to order from them over the bank holiday sales, i quickly wanted to flag up the appalling customer service you will receive if you have any problems, especially from head office!
Apologies for my poor grammar, but I wrote this in a rush...0 -
If you want a quick resolution to this and feel the service is bad enough write directly the MD of the company. It tends to work when customers (on the rare occasion) have problems with the sofas we supply.0

DFS MIKEL CORNER SUITE PILE CRUSH PROBLEMS:
We bought the Mikel corner suite, which was delivered approximately one month ago.
Since then, the fabric has (apparently) suffered from pile crush and DFS supplied us with new cushion covers. We decided not to fit the new covers and keep them in reserve because the fabric seemed to be affected so quickly - the idea being that once the condition became embarassing, we would have new covers to renovate!
However, since then, the rest of the sofa has also become "pile-crushed" and looks more like a year old, rather than a month. There is no movement in the fibres at all (i.e. hand prints show for days) and it appears patchy and worn. We have tried our best to treat this sofa with the greatest of care: we don't let our eleven-month old son climb on it and even cover it with a sheet on the odd occasion we eat whilst sitting on it! The sofa has also been treated with the acclaimed ground-breaking "FabriCare", which we were promised would make our sofa nearly nuclear-proof. But the sofa already looks quite worn-out!
I was wandering if anyone else has had any similar experiences regarding DFS fabric covered sofas and I would appreciate any discussions or advice. I know my rights regarding trading standards, etc., but I also now what a fight it can be taking that route! It may also be the case that there are simple and quick hints/tips that can be followed to improve the appearance of the fabric.
Thanks ;-)0 -

Hi
I have the Mikel Sofa too and have the same problem. It leaves finger marks for days and looks like its wearing out despite it only being 2 months old. I called DFS and they came out and made the problem worse by rubbing it with a brush despite the care manual stating not to rub it.
Did you pay extra for the 5 year protection?
I really don't know what to do as they won't listen, they just make out that the material is prone to it and I should accept it. Funny this wasn't mentioned when I bought the thing!0
