"There are more than a million buy-to-let properties in the UK, but as owners struggle to sell or let their properties, many are facing potential bankruptcy and repossession. Jonathan Maitland examines whether buy-to-let could be the final straw that bursts the housing bubble."

Almost forgot about that HOmes from Hell, even though it's the same old problems."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

Gold fish have now been shown to have quite good memories.
So if you go on holiday and forget to get someone to feed them they will be p!ssed at you for weeks.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
If they survive the holiday that is."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

Actually, that's true. I trained ours (all abandoned, rescue ones too so had trauma) to swim through my fingers to get the flakes. Taught them loads of tricks and they knew who I was too.;)Gold fish have now been shown to have quite good memories.
This was in the olden days when I had a life with leisure time.0 -
Don't bother watching it, I'll save you half an hour of your life with this summary
:
It will be the usual numpties that bought off plan new builds without even checking what market rents or prices were. More numpties that bought properties from Morris Properties and other sharks that sell all sorts of rubbish for yet more over inflated prices that the buyers didn't check were true. Lots of doom and gloom but no mention of the fact the BTL mortgages have a lower repo rate than residential ones and that half of landlords are currently planning to buy more property and 80% are either keeping what they have or expanding their portfolio. More numpties will be featured that didn't consider what would happen if they couldn't find a tenant and probably didn't ask local agents what the rental market was like in the local area. Yet more numpties that didn't realise buy to let is a business not a hobby you can pick up and put down or take no interest in and expect it to make you money.
They'll also fail to mention that even though new build flats are over priced they still manage to reach 75% of their original purchase price even when repossessed which means they are probably selling for their precise market value as everyone knows new build flats are are over priced anyway. They will berate the costs of new houses but fail to mention the planning regs and requirements for affordable housing which adds £50k to the cost of each average new build property.
They'll probably throw in a few sell and rent back people who made a mess and got the people they stopped being repossessed, having their rented home repossessed.
If they are really going for the heart strings they'll feature some aesthetically appealing FTBs who can't get on the ladder but seem to want a decent house in a decent area straight away rather than making do with something smaller somewhere not so nice where everyone starts out. One of them will be a key worker or do charity work which they don't like to talk about.0 -
Cheers teabelly!!!! I can watch Eastenders instead now without feeling guilty...what a relief!!!

damn right, teabelly. If the BBC give us new build disaster and "I paid stupid money for a blatant dive of a place I'd never seen or researched, but the man said I'd be a millionaire" numpties on Panorama, I dread to think what ITV will offer us.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

How on earth does one abandon a goldfish? I mean, it is not like a dog or a cat whereby you just put it out the front door and never let it back in again, is it? Do you drive to the RSPCA and dump a bowl on their doorstep?
Sorry for the OT post, but I have never come across traumatised, abandoned goldfish before.
