Bank Error - Compensation Sought

Well I would have to disagree there pal,
....hmm... not overly-enamoured with the tone there.
I think that if you have been unfairly charged by a bank or finance company for themselves I think it would be a better world all over, yes ok get what you can in life but don’t hurt somebody else financially or physically to do this, freaking capitalism and bureaucrats, get stuffed!
......nice!! Who's hurting anyone? Who's suing anyone? The OP asked for an allowance in lieu of some shoddy service he believes he's received, the bank agree with him and have made an offer. The OP is just wondering whether it's the right amount. Any chance of a reply without the 'tude?
A business relationship between bank and customer works to create money for the bank. The bank needs the customer to be happy for this to happen. If the bank falls out of favour due to poor service, they know they have to buy that relationship back, or let go of the relationship. Everyone's happy with the way that works.0 -

I like that bit if you shaft a Bank they will shaft you more, I think you will find that regardless of the economy at the moment, a lot of people have lost trust in the financial institutions full stop.
£40 billion so far borrowed, and this Government has made it clear that they will inject more if needed.
Why the hell should the tax payer bail them out, isn't this the same financial institutions who have repossesed thousands of properties from struggling families, the same institution who have irresponsibly lent the money in the first place.
You also state about too many people are quick enough to sue for anything or scam, and that it's a case of greed. £39 charge to send an automated letter is complete greed.
I once received one of these letters for non payment of loan, I got hold of the executives office and asked them why i received the letter when the money was in my account, the answer i got was the standing order was cancelled before the last payment was made, hence the charge, then i pointed out that i was on holiday at the time of cancellation, and could they now tell me who cancelled it...answer received we dont know who cancelled it, the charge has now been cancelled and £25.00 compensation was given.
Then i asked them how they justified their £39.00 charge, answer given was manual intervention, so then i pointed out that if any manual intervention had taken place they would have seen that as it was the final payment on the loan, the outstanding amount was £20.00 less than what they stated on the letter.. their answer we are sorry.
Before you criticise people you should take a look at the underhanded things that this Government have done since being in power, all brought to light thanks to the media.0 -

Agreed. Another compensation seeker wanting what they do not deserve. As I've said numerous times, mistakes and accidents no longer occur as undoubtedly someone is always punished because some greedy person wants compensation to make them feel better.Amo L'Italia0 -

I note your assessment of me!!
However, I was put to time/expense and my credit reference has been adversely affected by the bank's error.
The bank has offered me £50 in compensation for this and I was seeking some views on whether this was considered reasonable in the circs.0 -

Tell that to the Banks who have robbed the tax payer out of billions, their mistakes they should correct it.
One rule for one and one rule for another, and what happens to the poor person, they end up losing out on the 10p tax and why well that's obvious, all that tax money has to be put back, and it's the tax payer who's gonna do it.0
