anyone here tried bulldog 8 mb broadband conection
im thinking of getting a new net connection this looks good but im worried that with these high speeds the provider has cut back on reliability eg its only 8 mb between midnight and 6 in the morning kinda thing.
alternatively does anyone else have good recommendations to broadband providers thanks ??!!

Blinko, I'm moving this to the internet board, hopefully you'll get a few more replies over there.

I have heard it is unreliable, how reliable the information is is another matter.
Also people say they don't ever see 8mbs, they usually see 3 - 4mbs (again what I heard).
Apparently they are also behind in their new subscriptions, i.e. 60,000 users with 20,000 on a waiting list. (you could confirm this when you phone up).
Customer services also not very good so I have heard.
Ntl broadband will soon (within a year) be starting to migrate all it's customers to 10mbs, they will be starting with the 3mbs customers. But eventually they will have just one speed (10mbs) and people will pay for content rather than speed. It remains to be seen how this will affect each user, with some users happy to stay and others migrating away because they don't like to be watching how much they use (like the bad old days of dial up).
Apparently the speeds on offer in the UK are nothing compared with other places, I have heard too that Hong Kong has 100mbs and are rolling out a 1000mbs service.0 -
i have heard of 26mb from bethere.co.uk cant wait for them to come in yeah i have heard that about bulldog too i think its upto 8mb rather than 8mb i had homechoice a while back and they were great 2mb was exactly that all the time 2mb no matter what i downloaded !!0

Irrespective of the speed of broadband the best you can get is what your physical line supports. In my case I have been told that my line can only support 512Kb therefore I stick to my dialup at home and the high speed direct connection at work. It all sounds great but make sure you get a line check done first before paying a higher price for something you can not get the benefit from.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I only get about 3 meg and i'm 300 mtrs from the exchange
