HI all
Well, the decision about the strike has been taken - I am striking, just don't think I could not considering my union is iyswim. To be honest, I had a really good chat with the year 7s this afternoon about it - was explaining how it wasn't about the amount teachers were paid and we chatted about the economy and the value of money (!!!) and union loyalty - it was great - then I remembered I was meant to be teaching them about the black death of the fourteenth century!! Whoops.
Not sure how I'm going to sort the money situation - will have to do the dreaded ebay on thursday!
Only 4 of us are striking - amazing the difference between up here and London!CCCS DMP:Feb 07

Hi Sea. I think your chat was much more productive than the black death. I'd imagine the pupils parents are having an "input" into why people are striking. I know a poor lady who is a teacher and doesn't agree with the strike yet feels compelled to for fear of her colleagues reactions if she doesn't. I hope it goes well thursday. hope you're doing ok, has been an age since we've caught up. xxxdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Well, the opposite is happening in my school - out of 27 members of the NUT, only 3 of us are striking (the 4th changed mind today when school wasn't going to be closed).
Why join a militant union if not going to go with the democratically agreed vote? I don't think the strike is necessarily the best thing to do at all, but I just am still supporting the union - what's the point otherwise??
Not been posting on here much - feeling full of anger and rage recently - need more sleep lol!!! Not all that positive. Been focussing on being creative with the scrapping so that's helping.
Hope all are well. Will try to catch up when I don't feel quite so grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.CCCS DMP:Feb 07

hi sea, finally found your thread again - i must subscribe to it. I love the layouts you have done, i really need to get some scrapping done, need to print out some more photo's though and i find that so tedious.
Takes a lot of courage to strike i'm not sure i'd even have that courage, but no point in joining the union where i am, they're a bit useless really.0 -
Can relate to the strike dilemma as have had to a few times although dont like it in principle but thankfully we voted no last time...What happened with the drs in the end? Sorry you're not feeling too good. I agree with you over your striking decision, otherwise why bother joining a union? I presume your colleagues won't say no to a payrise if we get it?0 -
