Our house has been on the market for nearly 3 months now, and we haven't had any viewings, despite doing everything the Estate Agent advised us to (repainting the kitchen, reducing price etc). I know the market is slow but they have told us that they are getting viewings of other properties in the same price range. To say the EA has been useless is being very generous. The first pictures they took were rubbish, and I had to send them my own photos to use. However, the old ones are still on Rightmove, despite us asking them to change it twice-weekly by phone, email and in person.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I had a go at the manager yesterday to tell her I wasn't happy with the service, and letting her know that we would be terminating the contract with them at the earliest opportunity.
Lo and behold, 10 minutes later we got a phone call saying there is someone wanting to come and look at the house! What a coincidence!!!!
What are the chances the viewer is going to be an employee / friend of the Estate Agent?!?!?

I wouldn't care if it was or wasn't, if you're unhappy with the service I would take your business elsewhere.
although I would wait to see if an offer came in before doing so.....0 -
It could well be, however it might be someone who has rung up enquiring about a similar property and they have said, while your looking you may as well look at this one too…0

Exactly the same happened to a friend of mine. The house has been on the market since last November with not a single viewing so she rang the Estate Agents and said she was going elsewhere. Lo and behold, 10 minutes later the Agents phoned her husband with 2 viewings for the next day.
Never did find out whether they were mates of the EA or not as she told them where to go and went with another Agent anyway.

For the money they charge and for the service most of them provide it's absolutely daylight robbery.0

Good morning: The same, incredible 'coincidence' happened to us...definitely confirmed my opinion of traditional estate agents...haven't experienced that carp with Housenetwork. Let us know how the game unfolds.;)

Wow, seems like common practice! Just hope it is a genuine viewer and not a timewaster.0

I'm glad I'm not the only one!0 -

The exact thing happened to me when I was selling mine years ago, the EA was messing me aaround cos they where trying to get a mortgage for teh peeps that wanted mine, when I complained about waiting and having no other viewers all of a sudden they turned up:rolleyes: , I emailed via rightmove or something the other day my interest in a property 5 days later got an email back telling me to telephone the EA office and make an appointment, now surely if they had all my details they should be straight on the phone to me............................to try and sell it for themSam B0 -
It happened to me and i confronted the estate agent, what happened was we hadnt had a viewing for about 2 months then a lady came round and looked at the house.
We asked her about her house and she told us she had it up with 2 estate agents and that it wasnt sold.
Another thing was she knew all the estate agents on first name terms and was going on about how good ours was, even though she wasnt with them.
Anyway after investigating and looking at the 2 estate agents she said she was selling with, i could not find the same 2 propertys listed with the 2 agents.
Anyway i phoned my estate agent up and asked to speak to the estate agent to find out where the ladies house was for sale as i might be interested, and his secretary told me it was confidential.
There was also 2 other houses viewed by the same women down my road as we are all with the same agent and it was everyones first viewing.
I knew as soon as i spoke to the estate agent he was full of pooh, when i phoned up i asked to speak to him but his secretary said he was to busy.
I did inform them that i would be informing the neighbours, but the neighbours are stuck with them as they have their hip packs with them.
never heard of my estate agent again as i think i had rumbled him, sent him a letter cancelling.
I think they do it, t keep you thinking they are doing a good job.
