Hi
I have noticed that when i ring a mobile from my sky landline it charges me even when the phone is not answered. This happened when BT was provider as well. Is there any way around this as it is 18p a time!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
18185 - 5p connection and 6p per minute (11p for a one second call weekdays, 3½p per minute weekends) and, using 18185, I've not noticed being charged for a call which doesn't connect or reach voicemail.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You shouldn't have been charged by BT or Sky. Unless it's not a mobile you are calling but a find-me-anywhere / follow-me / personal number that begins 070. This the system answers straight away and then plays a ringing tone down the line whilst it tries calling the programmed numbers in the list.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

You'd really have to explain your definition of not answered as if there is no connection to the destination number calls should not be chargeable, however if you get a recorded message or answer service even if you don't get to talk to the person, that's a different matter.

    Hi
No this is a straightforward mobile - my husband can't really take calls at work, so I ring him and his phone vibrates, he doesn't answer and his service doesn't kick in. He then goes somewhere quiet and rings me back.Have tried ringing sky and surprise surprise i didn't get anywhere.

    It could be a fault.
If you ring up your service provider and query this they have to refund it and fix the problem!

I do think it could actually be a fault, yes.

I have tried, but this is Sky - we also route their calls through BT I believe? I tried the other day and after being put through to over 3 different people, my patience had worn a bit thin. Will summon the patience to try again!!
