Sig help please

Sorry to be a pain, I have looked in other sig threads but they get a bit techie for me. I don't have 5 lines in my sig but it keeps telling me I do when I want to change it slightly, but it would still be below 5 lines. I see people with longer sigs than me so I know I am doing something wrong. I keep reading about BCC codes or something but don't know what they are. :o

But at least your sig looks 5 lines long. Mine is only 2 but it won't let me add another line. :(

Sometimes the error about more than 5 lines is really to do with too many characters/formatting in the signature, rather than how many lines. Seems to be a badly written error message.

Try something simpler first, without so much formatting.

    Something like:

    [noparse]
    Comp Wins so far since Feb 2008 ~ Feb ~ 2 x National Wedding Fair Tickets - £24 Mar ~ CSI DVD Boxset - £25 - Holiday to Beijing! Apr ~ Virgin Vouchers - £99 + £500
    [/noparse]

    Which should give:
    Comp Wins so far since Feb 2008 ~ Feb ~ 2 x National Wedding Fair Tickets - £24 Mar ~ CSI DVD Boxset - £25 - Holiday to Beijing! Apr ~ Virgin Vouchers - £99 + £500

Click the switchmode.gif button in the top right corner of the editor to see the code that makes up your signature.

I have pressed that Editor button. Was trying to think how to get rid of so much coding but no matter what the text style or colour, it all gives a code, doesn it?

    What does no parse mean?

I wanted to add a line, but it wouldn't let me.

If you don't specify a font, then the forum just uses the default which is Verdana. That saves on some coding. That is what the example code I gave does.

That's just the code you put in to get the forum to show the BBCode. It's not something to put in the signature itself.

Your post #4 seems to have a number of blank lines below your sig compared to post #6.

Using noparse allows you to see the formatting commands.

To see the codes, edit your sig & add [no parse] at beginning & [/no parse] at the end.
But don't include the space in [no parse],[/no parse], noparse should be one word.

See what noparse, /noparse does to my signature below.
It displays the formatting commands, bold & color, so you can see what's hidden in there.

Thanks. I have not chosen a Font so its gone back to Verdana which seems to give me a little more room. :)

You seem to be getting there. :)

I had to start from scratch with mine when the rules changed, gradually making it more complicated until I found something that I liked and the forum would accept (the links made it worse).
