yes i have my bb and phone plugged into the test socket all day y/day no difference, still sounds like someone opening a packet of crisps on the phone.
Sounds like you need to report a noisy line then, especially as it did the same with a different ISP.
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
the noisey line is a problem but it comes and goes...what anoys me more is the connection to the internet being lost.
Broadband needs a clean line so until you sort the noise out you'll keep losing the connection.
Just a thought but how many extensions have you got and if you have any do you have filters on all of them?
If you do have extensions then I suggest you unplug everything then start at the main box and plug your router in there.
If you don't lose connection then it's a matter of finding out which extension or item your plugging into an extension is at fault.
There could also be a BT junction box outside that is being affected by rain which can make your problem intermitant.
Finally check with your neighbours to see if they are experiencing the same/similar problems which could point to a BT external source.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -

Have you unplugged the phone to see if you keep losing connection and have you had rain recently or do you notice problems when/after it rains?
Also if you have nice neighbours then as I said check with them.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -
Why don't people read all of the posts, particularly those from the OP? lotty has said several times, including in the original post, that they have tried the test socket, and still three people have suggested this!!!
lotty - a good test and common occurrence if it is the telephone line causing the broadband disconnection is to pick up then put down the phone. This "should" disconnect the broadband, forcing it to reconnect. If this doesn't do it, try calling your mobile for a second or two then hanging up. If this works then it is a good example you could show a BT engineer if when he comes out. However, the high level of noise sounds like enough of a sign for them!
Good luck

thanks for that...I don't actually use the phone that much so it's not a great problem...the line's are from a telegraph pole where many bird's perch on...it's probably them...pecking at the line...but they did try to charge me about £250 for a new line although it wouldn't have been another line as it would have been them taking down the existing one and putting a new wire up...so I said no way...do you think I am stupid or something...they have to make there money somewhere I suppose but not from me...fools:rotfl:Hello Ice.
I used to work on the Post Office contract for Fujitsu dealing with ISDN and Broadband faults. Because you only get a problem when it rains means you have an exposed joint and it's not because BT are stumped but they are too lazy to track down the exposed joint. If your problem happened a while after it rained then the fault would be inside a junction box outside somewhere that was letting water in.
