i joined sky bb on the 1st april at first we had a fast reliable connection, but during the last 4 days we keep losing connection, the signal light on the router goes off/amber/green but even when its green we dont always get a connection,i have swapped the filter, plugged my equipment directly into the test socket and its still the same,i phoned sky and their answer was it must be a faulty router and will send me a new one.
just one other thing is i sometimes have a crackling on the phone line, but if i dissconnect the phone line going to the router it dissapears.
any help please?

If your saying your disconnecting the phone and the crackling goes then you have a faulty phone.Always looking for a bargain and to help0

the crackling is your filter...
if this doesn't help when you put a new one in then contact BT or who ever you are with as it'll be a fault...I get it sometimes but only when it's raining...bt are stumped by it...as for the router it does sound like it's faulty...
you have to leave it on 24/7 for the first 14 day's so they can get your speed right...this is mostly done between 1am-6am when your asleep but you must leave the router on for that period...:D

Hello Ice.
I used to work on the Post Office contract for Fujitsu dealing with ISDN and Broadband faults. Because you only get a problem when it rains means you have an exposed joint and it's not because BT are stumped but they are too lazy to track down the exposed joint. If your problem happened a while after it rained then the fault would be inside a junction box outside somewhere that was letting water in.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -
Hi lotty,
if you've changed the microfilter (assuming you're not unlucky enough to have two faulty filters) and you're getting crackling on the phone line still then the fault lies somewhere between your phone line and the BT exchange. Probably a very similar problem to the one described by PeteHerts for Ice.
I'd call BT and log a fault on the line. They'll test the line and tell you its fine probably. You may need to demand an engineer comes out to your home and show him the fault. However, BT can/will charge you a call out fee if they get there and the fault doesn't happen (so try to perfect replicating the problem before getting them out).
Good luck

BT call out if it is your fault £170 so be careful and check inside wiring first .
If the fault goes away when you connect to the inside connector on the BT master socket its not a BT problem.

lotty said in the first post that they have tried the test socket so it wont be the internal wiring.0 -

if i just put the phone in the socket its fine ,the crackling comes when you have bb and the phone in together.i got 4 filters with sky and i had 2 of my own i have tried all them,no difference. before i had sky i had aol i also had the same problem but i thought it would clear when i left aol.0 -

Does this still happen when pugged into the test socket of the master socket? i.e. with no extension wiring connected.
