Virgin to start charging for unlock code. Unlock now for free.

I've just been emailed some new Terms and Conditions from Virgin Mobile for my Pay as you go phone.

Among the changes it says that from 12th May they will charge £15 for an unlock code. Right now it is free if you have spent at least £30 with them on the phone.

I've just phoned them up and they are going to send me my unlock code through the post. I bought my phone from them via the website. The procedure may be different if you got the phone from a shop.

I mentioned this on another thread, might be worth seeing if Martin can add it to the weekly tip. He could suggest that everyone with a handset and has spent £30, gets it unlocked now for free now? There is nothing really to be lost, even if people stay with Virgin as the phone will still work as before
