when my OH got his diagnosis back in 04 and then a week later, got shafted for 50k, I recall just feeling numb. Then a series of bad things occurred...one after the other, disaster after disaster. In isolation, each thing was manageable, but together in a big mish mash, it was a 'challenge'.
These things always seem to come out of the blue.
I wish you well, plus the half full mindset is a good one to have during times like these. I confess to being a half empty type of mindset.
I hate to sound trite, but 'good' things do come out of this stuff.....takes a while though.
4 years on, and the adjustments (well...total life change really) were positive on the whole (if I exclude choosing to abandon my London business that had a certain status attached to it) but OH recovered fully and is as annoying as ever.;)
Good that you are wanted........just spec a 9 - 5 contract? plus a bit of holiday time?
FWIW this Cr Cr is now attacking what we managed to keep (and mking planning impossible) and I am having a bit of a 2004 moment all over again (but without the bad health issues) so to read your post with it's positive stance is helpful too.
 Again, wishing Mrs G well.
 Clare
The glass is half full saying is the one I must keep repeating.
She's been ill for a while but things have come to a head now I'm doing 70-80hrs a week. I need to ease back a bit. Perhaps work from home a day or 2 each week. Also, a bit more jam today rather than tomorrow.0

Come live up here, you know you want to. Just went to view a house  in Girlie's village. The very nice couple selling it told me that they moved there for a couple of years in the 70s & have never left. Even though they're moving, it's just to a smaller place in the same village. (Though there is something Royston Vasey about it).
The area's kinda pricey for the region, but compared to dahn sath, it's cheap as chips (which are also very good). There's a real community spirit, I know people always say that, especially about chavvy areas, but it really does in this case.
Just need to find you a job in finance in the North East... there's a small bank based in Newcastle, had a few problems recently....
Edited to add: Don't think I've said, but all the best to Mrs G."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0

Well a few hedgies made a fortune shorting the whatsit out of NRK. A bunch of others lost a fortune by being long it but that's life.
I don't plan to live in the South East forever but I'm carving out a pretty decent career for myself right now and it would be a shame to throw it all in just as I'm getting somewhere good.
I think the longer term plan has to be to get out of finance in the end but if I can do that with a big bucket full of cash and the skills to go and do something fun rather than starting off as a pleb all over again (which I don't think I could face - all that being managed by half-witted bullies, horrible) then so much the better.
Thanks for all the messages of support. Had a couple of PMs too. There are some lovely people posting here as well as all the vitriolic bollox of course.0

            G,
Sorry to hear about your recent problems. With your sense of humour, I'm sure you will be fine!In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
