Great news or what?! Well to those of us with a Wii connected to the internet it is
Fun starts at midnight, On your Wii, you’ll first need to install the Internet Channel, which costs 500 Wii points, or approx. £3.50.

Fantastic! I've been waiting for that news for ages... wonder if they're downgrading the flash version or upgrading the wii... hmm
Very well timed since i missed the 2nd installment of Casualty 1907 on sunday0 -
cool!
that will be good!
cant wait to get it set up0 -
Thought I'd give it a go and yes its up and running already. Quality is similar to You tube and there is no full screen option as yet. I also managed to lock up the Wii while trying to run Gavin and Stacey.
Here's the info off the iplayer website.

Did you pay the £3.50 for it ?
While it sounds good I can't see any benefit in paying the money to load it from the Wii rather than a PC or Laptop especially if it's not got a full screen option yet.
It would be a good option for people who don't have a PC or Laptop but then they won't have an internet connection either !0 -

A Wii tends to be connected to a TV
A laptop tends not to be connected to a TV.
I would guess many people would prefer to watch this sort of content on their TV although full screen would be nice.0 -
I didn't pay for the Opera browser as such, registered all my Wii stars on the website converted them into Wii points which I used to buy the browser.
I've already been using it for You Tube, and occasionally this site.
For full screen, you can zoom the picture with the Wii mote to make it full screen, quality is a bit iffy though.
Now if only the radio player would work with it.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
ISP are now looking to the BBC to pay for the extra bandwidth being used by IPlayer

I udated my wii last night as I hadn't used it for a while. I then went back on it at around 1.15am but couldn't find anything about iplayer or any messages about it
How come we have to pay for for it, seems odd when you can get it for free on pc. I do have a pc connected to the tv but cant get net to work, tried two different wireless adaptors but when it connects it disconnects straight away.0 -
Your not paying for the bbc i player you are paying for the internet channel on the wii so you surf the web on it3.6Kwh PV System, Lg Panels , Growatt Inverter South Facing, 23 deg Roof Facing, Stoke on Trent0

I didn't state we have to pay BBC, just that we have to pay for it. I know it will be Nintendo, but it seems a bit of a cheek to ask money for it.
Anyhow doesn't seem to be any option to pay either or at least there wasn't in early hours of this morning0
