Just come back from the European Premiere of Fool's Gold at Vue West End. And of course I suddenly found myself next to Matthew McConaughey on the red (actually blue) carpet with only my mobile phone camera to hand! He was wearing a beige suit and signing autographs. We made our way inside where we found that we had great seats, and there was a water bottle and some Lindt chocolates at every seat, but no popcorn, so had to buy that. The huge screen was hooked up to an outside camera, so we could see what was going on. Matthew was making the rounds, then Kate Hudson arrived (she was wearing a green gown), and started making the rounds too, signing autographs, posing for pictures and talking to people. The film was quite predictable of course but really good fun and had a lot of action/adventure stuff in it, so I give it an 8/10. Ray Winstone's American accent was fab!
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

We arrived ten minutes late for a 6:30 screening and weren't allowed in- but were also told we should have been there half an hour early. Anyone heard that one before? (as we never arrived that early for previous screenings...)

    Thanks!
    Lindsay

p.s. this was at the Odeon Brighton

    Hi,
on the SeeFilmFirst ticket it says:

Please bring suitable identification with you
No entry once film has commenced. No persons will be admitted under the age of the certificate specified. No Smoking. In the event of a dispute the cinema manager's decision is final. Visit www.seefilmfirst.com for full terms and conditions.

It always appears to be at the staff discretion over allowing latecomers...maybe they'd been getting complaints about the disruption?
The 30 mins thing has always been there as a recommendation, doors open 6pm and film starts at 6:30pm. I think people do get there early for the busy locations. :)
  • I think this time thing is all to suit the cinema's i turned up at 6.28 for one screening and the usher told me if i had been late i wouldn't have been allowed into the film yet another screening which i went to about 12 people traipsed in 15 minutes late, i think they should have one rule across the board

I've actually received a Congrats email from Time Out, it's for In Bruges which I've seen but will be perfect for my daughter who didn't think she could get to Wandsworth screening on time.
    Let's hope next time it's for s film I haven't already seen

I think they've only released tickets for Wandsworth so far. Hopefully there'll be more venues soon.

saw In Bruges last night and mostly enjoyed it - but like opas, was sometimes bored. I think the swearing (prob the 'C' word) offended someone as they walked out just after an outburst.
