I have got the VIP code for Manchester/Lowry for "What Happens In Vegas"

I would like to urge fellow VIP members NOT to post the VIP SFF codes here or anywhere. It defeats the object of me or others paying £1.50 per text IF the code is hammered by non-service subscribers.

I also think the SFF VIP idea is a good one but fails for 3 reasons: :

    1. What happens if you get texts for codes that you already found/acquired elsewhere?
    2. What happens if they text you a code for a movie that is sheer cack?
    3. This kinda falls in line with problem 1. If we're expected to pay a VIP rate, then surely we should be amongst the first to receive the codes?? Take this movie for example (What Happens In Vegas) - there's been about 5 codes flying around for the last 2 weeks!!. I think the SFF VIP members should get the codes before magazines, internet, forums etc or at least the EXACT same time.

Getting the codes first gets rid of problem 1 above.

That could be a potential £12 per month down the drain (2 texts a week @ £1.50 x 4 weeks), which is the cost of a Broadband service!!

I think it's fair to charge £1.50 BUT only when the VIP member uses it.

    1. Send out the text
    2. Let the user decide if he/she has/wants to use the code
    3. User logs into a VIP section on the site
    4. User enters email, password and mobile number he/she received text on (that way SFF knows who to charge the £1.50)
    5. SFF make the £1.50 charge
    6. If the user does not want to use the code, then he simply doesn't do anything. SFF will be able to determine which users have took advantage of the code as per instruction 4.

If user doesn't use the code, then user pays normal standard 10p text charge.

Im happy i got a VIP code, but it was for a movie thats had about 5 codes already blasted over the net this week.

if the sff experiment in manchester does not work because people are giving out the codes on places like this then they wont bring out the system nationally. I personally prefer not to pay and enjoy a freebie.

I was wondering if anyone had managed to get into a screening put on by EROS card without showing their EROS card?

My name is on their list and I have the email printout - I just have lost my EROS card...

i just walked in they take the paper of you and point you in the right direction - they didnt even look at me or ask for id

    Hi Folks,

Just wanted to say in relation to the ongoing VIP debate that is raging on here and the other board (naughty!) that I DON'T understand why anyone who uses this board would bother to sign up to a paid for (and not cheap!) service, when this fab site is so good for getting tickets. Does anyone really need more than 3 free films a month (what I average from here I reckon)? And the feeling you get when you post a code that hasn't gone up yet and everyone thanks you makes you feel all lovely and warm inside :> I'm just not really sure why people would join a 'free cinema' discussion board only to urge other users not to post codes so that they (the author) can see more films - slightly odd logic?? It would be like if you were handing money out in the street and some passerby came up and was like: 'Can you not do that please, because it devalues my money'. And?

In other news saw XXY last night (my number finally came up with Time Out). Really enjoyed it, would give it an 8/10.
I totally agree. I have never had problems getting tickets with SFF etc. so far and definitely would not pay for the priviledge. Personally, I hope that system falls flat on its face.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

I agree - I can not see the point in paying for texts that are of no use to you - it rather takes the idea of a freebie away but I suppose SFF never advertise as being free just SEE FILMS FIRST. Whilst I do appreciate that £1.50 is still cheaper than buying two tickets, I can see what a waste of money it still is. What happens if it is a film you really have no interest in, what if it is showing on a date you really can't make, what if you are on holiday and so on. Why would anyone want to pay to receive information that might be of no use to them!!

Its a shame that they have decided to try this - I would have thought that it would be better to correct their existing procedures i.e. send the blooming emails out to people in good time! Also sort out somesort of response to the people who take tickets and never use them - after all its not to difficult, we all hand one in when we get to the cinema - maybe a three strikes and you're out policy.

Saw Charlie Bartlett last night, not sure if I would reccommend but I wouldn't discourage people from going either. I think I expected more because a review said "takes up where Juno left off", but having seen CB I would not compare it to the (imo) excellent Juno. I can't say specifically what was wrong with the movie, as I thought the acting was very good and RDJ was as ever, on form. I think the lead actor annoyed me, although he could be endearing at times, and while it was an 'unusual' film I still got the feeling I'd seen it all before. There were quite a few funny bits which I did laugh at, and as free films go it was ok, 6/10.

On another note for those on the Showcase Insider Scheme, it should be ok to swap tickets as I did not have to show my card and they didn't check my name (Showcase Glasgow Paisley).

Just come back from my free screening of Speed Racer and have to say it was the most colourful and vibrant film i have ever seen, the story was a bit predictable but none the less enjoyable but i can forsee problems with people with epilepsy once this film comes out. Would give it a 6 out of 10.

looks like they (so far) havent given any tickets to anyone else but SFF VIP text for tomorrows Manc 'What Happens in Vegas',,, WOW

its normally dead empty anyway..so cant see many being there.

It might be some sort of sting for all the photoshopped tickets I've done :rotfl:

I also wonder if they gave people a unique code so they know who posts on the boards!

    CONSPIRACY THEORY! haha
