Once upon a time, in the faraway kingdom of Dor, there was magic in the air, laughter aplenty and gallons of mouthwatering soup. But an accident left the King broken-hearted, the Princess filled with longing and the townsfolk without their soup. Sunlight disappeared. The world became gray. All hope was lost in this land until Despereaux Tilling was born.
A modern fairy tale, The Tale of Despereaux tells the story of several unlikely heroes: Despereaux (Matthew Broderick), a brave mouse banished to the dungeon for speaking with a human; Roscuro (Dustin Hoffman), a good-hearted rat who loves light and soup, but is exiled to darkness; Pea (Emma Watson), a Princess in a gloomy castle who is prisoner to her father's grief; and Mig (Tracey Ullman), a servant girl who longs to be a Princess, but is forced to serve the jailer (Robbie Coltrane).
Tiny and graced with oversized ears, Despereaux was born too big for his little world. Refusing to live his life cowering, he befriends a Princess named Pea and learns to read (rather than eat) books revelling in stories of knights, dragons and fair maidens. Banished from Mouseworld for being more man than mouse, Despereaux is rescued by another outcast, Roscuro, who also wants to hear the tales. But when the Princess dismisses Roscuro's friendship, he becomes the ultimate rat and plots revenge with fellow outsider Mig.
After Pea is kidnapped, Despereaux discovers he is the only one who can rescue her and that even the tiniest mouse can find the courage of a knight in shining armour. In this tale of bravery, forgiveness and redemption, one small creature will teach a kingdom that it takes only a little light to show the truth: what you look like doesn t equal what you are.

Just got back from seeing Australia at Milton Keynes. We were late, due to not checking the time and assuming it would start at 6.30:o , sorry to people already in (we weren't the last though). Thoroughly enjoyed the film, much better than I anticipated and longer!, although we missed the first 10mins.
8.5/10
Cheers

agree with other opinions some bits could have been shortened a little but it did not take from my enjoyment of the film, I was nervous at the 3 hr timsscale- remembered atonement which I hated!!! But the time flew by.

Saw Australia last night. I loved it. Beautiful scenery, good acting, especially by the little boy who apparently has never acted before. I would rate it 9/10.
Also thought it flew by. I could not believe we had been in the cinema nearly 3 hoursThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Just to clarify any doubts for Bedtime Stories, 1 voucher per household which means you can get up to 4 tickets.
The newspaper cutting is the voucher, so only one per "family"
Do not let them confuse you as it just happened to me, I got my 4 tickets in the end though. Thanks to those who help us to win !0 -

But they don't ask for any name & address details or such so no problem if you need more tickets.
If 2 (or 3) persons take in 1 voucher EACH, your "family" of 8 (or 12) will get the tickets they need - just do it SOON - 1st come 1st served.
