  • went to see what just happened and have to agree with others it was so boring. thought it was supposed to be a comedy. a few people left throughout the film.
i kept thinking they are playing a joke on us, at the end they'll say this is for all the people who dont wait for SFF to send them codes but get them else where
    0/10 from me
  • I returned tonight from seeing What just Happened ............????? What was it all about? I stuck it out for over an hour..and despite saying I would give feedback to SFF I left - I have never left a preview before (or any other film!) It was just so boring, the "acting" was terrible (apart from Robert de Niro...but even he was not on form) Why did all these big names agree to do this film? Did they not read he script? I have left scathing feedback (and I had the additional fb form too...had a field day with that!) I cannot bring myself to give it anything - so my score is 0/10
.....oh and what was all that overly acted "paddy" that the bearded Bruce Willis had all about ???? It was a completely bizarre film!

I left too!!! I've never left a movie before but this one was dire. What was with all the 'shaky-camera-syndrome-for-no-reason'?!! Made me feel sick. I thought it was awful... terribly terribly awful.

I went to the 'What Just Happened' screening in Milton Keynes last night, managed to make it through about 40 minutes of the film before me and OH decided to leave (Just as another couple were too)... Gave it a few chances to get funny/good but it was a waste of time!

I figured I could be doing something much more worthwhile at home, and am dissapointed I will never get that 40 minutes of my life back! lol

The story didn't seem to be going anywhere, Robert De Niro's character just seemed to spend most the time talking to people on the phone or driving on the phone. *Yawn*
  • I really feel lonely here:confused: I liked it and I actually thought it was much better than The Player:confused:
Robert Altman who tomorrow 20th November is 2 years already that passed away!!!

It was no The Player, but it definitely deserves more (or at least some) praise here. Bobby De Niro was good and underplayed the character very well. Michael Wincott as the Brit director was pretty funny and the film was constantly amusing just not laugh out loud funny. It was a bit too long but was surely much better than fluff like Taken that people raved about on these boards a few months ago.

I always find it very strange to read the reviews of my fellow MSErs as they mostly tend to be the opposite of my views!

I found what just happened to be a fairly good film. It was engaging showing both the fragility and the cut throat apsects of Hollywood. Full of "yes men" who are there to tend to over inflated egos and to deal with horrid studio directors. I found it amusing from a satire point of view and overall quite anjoyed it.

    7/10 from me.

Thank you MSErs, you've changed my life.

    Hi Leanne200.

Totally agree with what you said about not getting that 40 mins of your life back. We stayed for the full film hoping it would get better, but all the people sitting around us left at different times in the movie, they must have thought it was rubbish too. I have never seen anybody leave before from any preview at Gateshead.

I am so pleased I didnt pay to see it, as it was terrible.

Just out of interest - so that I can gage responses etc - what was the view of Burn After Reading?

An average rating of 7.18/10 from 17 people
I think it's pretty obvious that What Just Happened won't get any where near that, given that the highest rating so far is a 7!!

Well, I'm glad that I didn't see either of Chock or Whatever Just Happened after reading the posts here (and don't worry, I did email SFF that 'icantgo')!
    Dodged a bullet there.

Burn After Reading was alright. It wasn't 7/10 though! Can I insert some potential spoilers here..? Oh, go on then (you've been warned!):

I guess the film was ok but John Malkovich's character seemed to disappear a little towards the end when screen time seemed to be pretty much shared around all the characters up to that point. It all became about the 'bigger' stars a bit - which was just duff since their characters didn't allow - or give the need - for greater screen time. This seemed to spoil the story line a little and, well, then end was just crap. Let the whole of the film down.

Up until then - yeah, it was ok and quite enjoyable. I think Pitt, tho he played it well, is getting on a bit to be playing a kid. Even a grown up one.

See it for free if you can. I did ;)
 That window's cracked on both sides!!
