PAC code mess - Please help
Hi,
Thank you in advance for any help. I have a contract with Vodafone that has expired, and I want to move to O2's simplicity. I called Vodafone, asked to cancel and for a PAC code. The CSR passed me on to sales, but I insisted on cancelling. They said that a PAC would be sent to me via post. This never came.
I called again today and they were able to give me a PAC, but also said that I had to write in to cancel the contract. The cancellation would take 30 days. However, the PAC expires on the 27th of this month.
What happens if I just activate with O2, and let them port the number over. Will this cancel my contract with Vodafone automatically? If so, then I can send in a letter at the same time just to be safe. I am looking to minimize paying Vodafone any more than I have to.
Please advise as to the process as I have never gone through this before.

Normally using PAC means cancellation of contract.
I have never had to send a letter when using PAC.
In cases when you want to cancel but do not want to use PAC you have to write a cancellation letter.
I would say use the PAC and then call vodafone to confirm if you still need to send letter.0 -
That is correct. If you cancel and the port hasn't gone through yet you will lose your number.
The Porting out cancels the contract and the 30 days notice should start from when you ordered the PAC0 -
Hi alnsv1000s,
I'd just like to confirm that the other posts in this thread are correct. As soon as you use your PAC your number will be transferred to your new service provider and your account with Vodafone will be cancelled.
You'll receive one final bill after the termination which will be for any calls that you made over your inclusive minutes.
If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.
