National Counties BS ISA

There doesn't seem to be much discussion of this product on here, as far as I can see it has a good rate and a good guarantee of 0.4% above the BoE base rate (though only for a year)

I'm trying to plough through as much info as I can regarding where to put this years money and I don't want to go with Barclays as I don't want an account that has a bonus, Birmingham Midshires rate guarantee is a bit odd and i'm not sure what to make of it. and this seems to be the next best on offer right now.

Anyone used them before or have any opinion on how good they are etc

Cheers :D

Used them years ago, before they were swallowed up by the Halifax/Bank of Scotland conglomerate, HBOS.

Their TESSA & ISA products were fine then but who knows now?

I think you are thinking of Birmingham Midshires. National Counties are still a building society.

Re. National Counties BS ISA - goodish rate for year 1 but rate then drops (currently year 2 is 5.51%).

Allows deposits of £1+ but no transfers in at year 1 rate.

Once opened you can do online additional payments (from current year cash ISA allowance) - sort code and account details are shown on NCBS website.

Current rate of 6.26% may be reduced (????) as is was in situ before this week's BR reduction.

The OP's question is ambiguous & could relate to either National Counties or Birmingham Midshires....
