Vodafone ignored cancellation email

Hi all, im having a bit of a problem cancelling my vodafone contract. I phoned up about 2 months ago asking when the 12 months was up on my contract, so i could cancel it and get a better one. I then asked how to go about cancelling it.

I was told to email customer.care@vodafone.com, and state when i wanted to end the contract. That was over a month ago. I phoned up today and was told they had no record of my email. They then said it hadnt gone through because their policy for cancellation had changed 5 days ago and now i have to hand wirte a letter and send it in. Their address is a P.O. box so im guessing i cant do recorded delivery. Any suggestions?

You can do recorded to a PO box, all the letters will be signed for in bulk when they pick up the mail.
Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...
  • ....I'd suggest you call voda customer services about 5 working days after you post the letter to make sure it was received and is being processed. Regardless of recorded delivery. It'll set your mind at rest and also nip in the bud any potential lengthy delay attributed to non receipt of your letter. Not saying that'd be deliberate. Its just such a big place, Rmail also have "challenges" even with recorded post and, well, its just a quick phone call to double check. Phone them after 9pm if it suits you, you rarely have to wait in a queue then.

Their policy must have changed a LOT longer ago than that. I was advised about 2-3 months ago that i had to write. After singing their praises a while back I am now absolutely disgusted with them for other reasons. I take back everything good I ever said about them - they are the pits!

I was advised 2 years or more ago when I cancelled my vodafone contract that it had to be in writing, but they allowed me to fax a hand written letter.

    There is an easy way.

Give them a call and ask for the PAC code. They should give it to you straight away (at least T-mobile did). If you have a new contract, import it into your new one. If you don't have a new one yet, use a free O2 sim. They have to finish the transfer within two days now.

In this way, you can make sure that you are not their customer any more and therefore they can not charge you.

    Good afternoon m-reading

Sorry to hear that you're having problems cancelling your contract - has this been sorted out yet?

If not, then Vodafone's Forum Intervention Team will be able to help you with this. If you just click on the link provided and ensure that the code FIT 135 is in the body of your email then this will come through to us and we'll then get in touch to this sorted out for you.
