Registry fixer/cleaner?

Pc is prone to the odd crash - it is protected against virus/spamware and has a firewall all seems to be clean. I've run Registry Booster 2 which says that I have a few registry problems but wants to charge me to fix them! Should I go this route? Is there a freebie fixer? Or just reformat the hard drive and reinstall?
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!

I have always used CCleaner and found it very good for cleaning up PC and fixing registry
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Also very good is Advanced window care
http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
Both are free and straightforward to use0 -
I've used ToniArts EasyCleaner for years and like how simple it is.
I've heard a lot of people talk about CCleaner though so there must be something in it!0 -
Ccleaner just removes shortcuts etc and does not carry out a deep registry clean.
Its good enough for most as cleaning the registry is a dangerous path to go down . Clean the wrong bits and you may not be able to boot into the machine .

Try Tuneup Utilites. http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/
It is excellent. Its gives you a 30 day fully functional trial. So you can sort out what you need. Ive been using it for years and its reg cleaner has never caused any problems.
Has loads of other features as well.0 -
There are a lot of very dodgy registry cleaners out there! Since Windows 2000/XP I have found that it's generally best to avoid hacking about with the registry, although I do cautiously edit it by hand if I'm having problems with a particular issue (e.g. Nero stopped working recently even after a reinstall, so I uninstalled it then searched for all references to Nero in the registry deleting the appropriate keys/values. Luckily for me, Nero worked perfectly after that).0

Thanks, everyone, just didn't want to mess anything up. I'll give ccleaner a go. Will setting a restore point enable me to go back to 'pre fixing' if things go wrong?I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

Keep your eye open for PC mags with free full versions of WinOptimizer or Advanced System Cleaner on the cover CD/DVD. Why they give them away for free is a mystery to me, I've got the 2007 versions of both and I don't see any need to upgrade to the 2008 versions.0

Just run the Eusing prog and has found 187 problems! Most are invalid file/folder with a few Add/Remove prog issues and a few Obsolete software Keys. Should I press the Repair button?I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0
