when to start defuzzing!!!

hi, i am sure i will get a money saving angle in here somewhere, so bear with me!
i have a 11 yr old daughter - who is moving up to secondary school in september. unlike me, she has very dark hair, which is quite noticable on her legs, upper lip etc. after a few comments from her about getting teased at school for her lip, i have got her some very sensitive depilitary cream, which is working a treat - for her confidence as well!:T
now, she has not mentioned her legs at all - should i? i dont want her getting teased at secondary school (she already is quite an easy target). but, on the other hand, i dont want her growing up too quick, or worrying about things she wouldnt of worried about if i handed pointed it out (did that make sense?). she is quite a worrier!
now for the money saving bit (knew i would get it in somewhere:A )
what is the best way to defuzz - if we are going down that route? she is dead against waxing ( she cant even cope with pulling a plaster off lol) though i dod have a friend who goes regularly for hers, and DD1 really looks up to her, so that could be an option. Not sure of the cost though. Shaving - poss quite dangerous i would of thought - given that she has very poor fine motor skills. i still have nightmares about a girl from my school slicing her leg with a razor!
as far as i know, that leaves the creams - but wouldnt that be expensive?
or i am worrying over nothing, and should i just wait until she mentions it?

I'd just wait until she does it, with me I just noticed one day that my friends weren't hairy & went & shaved em with my Dad's razor then proudly went & told my Mum who was horrified lol
Or maybe get her a few things, yanno, cream/razors, deodorant, tampons & give her it as a sorta prezzie lol just say to her Here I got you some things you might need at some point! Or you could let her see you defuzzing yours & see if she says anything.
I dunno, not having kids myself, but I know with me I just did it. In school i'd never have noticed though cause nobody wore skirts!
ETA Sorry I forgot the money saving bit! I tried cream once but couldn't cope with the mess & smell & i'm not sure how often to use them, pack of 10 bic razors has always left mine smooth & nice! Never even use cream, never been an issue. Waxing I think would be expensive & i'm not sure they'd do someone her age? Plus ya have to let the hair grow some to be done, which I myself couldn't do.
Also worries me that going to salons for waxing might lead to wanting more stuff & peer pressure (Like I got a facial/sun bed/am prettier/better etc) I'd say maybe a nice Venus razor with matching creamNot too sure on the cost of blades mind you. I'm sure someone far classier than me & bic will be along soon

I would have said the razor was the best option, but if you're worried then creams would be best
I wouldn't encourage her to go down the waxing route - she's a bit young...and it flipping stings.
Creams aren't that expensive - only a few pounds a time, and the results will last a few weeks. With Immac you get a 'razor shaped' remover, which would give her practice at handling one for future razor use.:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I am very dark haired and hairy and so is my DD1.
I started to shave my legs with an electric razor when i was 12. I used to bleach the hair on my top lip as soon as a boy at school made fun of me.I also bought it for my daughter to use as well.
I was lucky i had an older sister who had been through the same. I use Jolene hair bleach on my face. Always put a smear of vaseline on first. I would buy her an electric razor when she asks about hair removal on her legs. This is what i did.
It is so lovely to here a mum who is understanding. Most of my daughters friends mums thought i was wrong letting my daughter shave her legs at 12. I know how embarrasing it feels.
Just tell her it is normal and don't make a big deal out of it.

UK Tigerlily, I really like that idea. Or maybe get her a few things, yanno, cream/razors, deodorant, tampons & give her it as a sorta prezzie lol just say to her Here I got you some things you might need at some point! Tampons etc are usually given when they're finally needed and emotions may be up a little on both sides but you could make it so much more positive if you give a gift of 'growing up' things which can include some nice treats. A good opportunity for a chat too.0

Once she has noticed it, I would really suggest waxing. This would be really effective at her age, and would save money in the long run.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0

I'm very dark haired and I started shaving my legs at the end of the 1st year in comprehensive when it got warmer and everyone started wearing skirts without tights.
Does she have to wear tights to comp school, or trousers? if she does then leave it til she mentions it and it will probably be the summer time when everyone else gets their legs out!
I would say razor like everyone else, if you are worried bout her cutting herself then maybe try the Wilkenson Sword Intuition ones which have the built in soap around the blade. I use these and very rarely nick myself. They aren't the cheapest but are always on offer in summer time and Wilko's usually are cheapest overall.

if your worried about her cutting herself with razers why not get her a electric one.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

I think I was about 12 when I started shaving my legs (even though I'm blonde and nobody can see the hairs anyway :rotfl: )
I struggled with a disposable razor, creams were too messy, managed about an inch with my Mam's epilator before crying, and was scared of waxing as I didn't like plasters being pulled off! Mam bought me an electric razor and I was fine with that.
Here I go again on my own....0 -
I'd definately go for the electric razor too.
Once you've bought it it costs next to nothing to run.
I'm also very dark haired and hairy and so is my daughter. I got her a good electric shaver in 1st year. How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0
