Hi
Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of a local Corgi registered plumber? Just had a quote from one guy who told me job will take 1½ days - and guess what, he wanted to charge me £2000 for his labour!!!
I live in Bexleyheath, Kent but apart from the local newspaper I haven't a clue.
Many thanks
Terri

yellow pages
and using google http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGIH_en-GBGB263GB263&q=Bexleyheath+plumber
...its pretty easyThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0 -
Not all Corgi plumbers are good plumbers - the one we had was awful!0

www.trustcorgi.com/findinstaller/FindanInstaller.htmx Also www.iphe.org.uk will give you list of registered plumbers/plumbing companies. Depends what the job is. Heating engineers don't like being called Plumbers....0

)...too many people presume that CORGIs are also qualified plumbers...far from it and more the shame they aren't IMHO.
£2000 in labour for a boiler change  ....I would expect the cost to be a few hundred more than that for supply and installation of a quality boiler with controls and a powerflush eg. Vaillant (dependent on type of boiler required, site conditions etc.) Please don't source your CORGI from the Yellow Pages, ask friends, colleagues, neighbours for recommendations first.

P.S. Just saw your other post...Vaillant 937 will add to the cost as will switching over from BBU/cylinder to a combi.Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0 -

A back boiler to combi conversion will take a lot longer than 1 1/2 days.
If its done properly that it.0 -

I hope not. British Gas said 1½ days too. I'm getting other quotes in first. At the rate I'm going, I may even put up with the back boiler - nothing wrong with it - just can't stand running out of hot water!
Thanks everyone.0 -

Good morning: That wouldn't be 1 1/2 days for one installer...proper job would take 4-5 days ...you did say new boiler would go in the loft..this adds to labour and material costs as does making good to the old BBU site. If someone gives you a cheap quote, beware...probably not CORGI registered in own right, system not installed according to manufacturer's specifications/Building Regulations etc. Proceed carefully.

It was 1½ for two people. I.e. 3 days in total. This was exactly same as British Gas. The £2k was purley labour - nothing else - i.e. £666 per day labour. On top of that another £2k for the boiler and other fitting materials - total £4K. The RRP of the boiler is £1100 and I'm sure there are discounts off of this. On the whole the bloke is looking to rip me off.0
