I just logged into my TSB account and tried to click on a new current account, and they said "Sorry, we can't offer you a secondary current account."

Did you apply for the secondary account on the original page like the first time? This is all a bit strange.

True - I know what you mean about the standing orders, I suppose I like to do it all on the same day to have peace of mind (as I need the funds to be in a certain account by a certain time to pay off credit card bills)

I applied for the second account the day after the first.

    Edit
I think we are a bit off topic here.

I applied for my second account while logged out, just fill in the same details and the second one will be linked to the first one you opened.

I've just tried to do this, it says they have found that I have applied for an account recently and will not allow me to apply for another.

Wonder if they changed the rules on having 2 accounts?

I did mine 2 hours after the first one, not heard of any rule change.

    You could try this

Go to <TSB current accounts page>
    Select the "Apply" tab
Near the bottom there's heading - Open an additional Classic Plus Account
Hit the button directly under that paragraph.

Hope it works for you. It worked for me. :)

    There's a problem...

72005 : According to our records, you have already applied for a current account with us recently. Unfortunately, we're not able to consider another application at the moment.

Thanks for advice, still won't let me. I have tweeted their TSB twitter account, they do not have any customer service in-account secure mails or emails, and will only allow phone calls. I really despise going through the phone call route. Will see what they say.

As I said earlier, I think we are off topic in this thread. I've continued this discussion in the <Saving with Current Accounts> thread (post #12).

  • Hi,
I started up a savings ISA with Barclays when I was about 18 just to put a few savings away (but didn’t pay a lot of attention to the details). Anyway I’ve been adding to it every month, I’m now 22 and I’ve got roughly £10,000 in my ISA but I think I’m just on Barclays base rate which isn’t very good so I want to move my money into another ISA with a different bank and better rates ( I was thinking maybe Halifax).

Because the limit is £5,940 per year, does that mean that I can only transfer this much into a new ISA rather than just closing my Barclays Isa and moving the £10,000 over in one go or would I have to put £5,940 into a new account and leave £4,060 in my Barclays account until next year when I can move it over ....does this mean I’m not going to be able to add another £5,940 to my savings this year?
Sorry if I’ve got this totally wrong!

The £5,940 only applies to new money i.e. subscriptions since 6 April 2014.
If you have added to the ISA since 6 April then it is the only cash ISA you can add to this tax year but you can transfer it whenever you like to another provider. You can continue to add to it under the new manager until you have subscribed up to the limit (£5,940 till 1 July then it increases to £15K)

    Edit
Make sure you use a transfer form from the new manager - don't withdraw the funds to transfer them yourself or you'll lose the tax-free status of the ISA.
