Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'm having trouble hunting down an ISA with a decent enough rate, online access and importantly for me interest paid monthly.

I have accounts with Nat West, Ulster, Santander, so can easily apply with them. A good rate is ideal but I'm prepared to sacrifice a little on the percentage for my preferred options of online access and interest paid monthly. Who do you suggest? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Argy

oops I forgot to mention , the option to transfer in existing cash ISAs would be a bonus too. THanks, Argy

Barclays Golden ISA pays 3.25%, monthly interest and offers online access if you open a current a/c with them.

Otherwise see this post for current Cash ISA 'best buys' and check out which meet your requirements.

<Edit> Have just seen your follow-up post - the Golden ISA does not permit ISA transfers but you'll find those that do listed in the above link.
  • hello, me again.

I just wanted to check quickly, I've opened a new ISA with Barclays and deposited the full amount. Now I want to transfer my old ISA to the better rate at Halifax, but the first step it opening a new ISA with the Halifax. This means I'll technically be opening two ISA accounts in one year, is that allowed?

    Thanks

Opening multiple ISA accounts is no problem, the rule is that you can only subscribe (pay new money into) to one Cash ISA per tax year.

You must not pay ANY new money into the Halifax ISA, as you have already subscribed to the Barclays one (your ISA transfer will cover the stated £1 minimum).

Is the Halifax Direct ISA not available anymore? I've been trying the past few weeks but every time I try to apply it keeps saying 'Service unavailable'

    At what stage?

Clicking the "Apply now" button HERE certainly brings up the first page of the application for me.

Haven't seen anything suggesting that it has been withdrawn - maybe simply down to the bank holiday/systems problems.

Other people have been on here with the same problem - I believe that clearing your cache/cookies in your browser and/or using a different browser will solve the problem.

    It's certainly still available.

If you have difficulty with the online application then you can always open it by phone.
