  • :rotfl: I TOOK OUT A MAXI INVESTMENT ISA IN 2005 FOR £7000. I ALSO PAID £300 PER MONTH INTO IT UNTIL DECEMBER OF THIS YEAR. SINCE THE CREDIT CRUNCH HAS HAPPENED I WANTED TO INVEST IN A CASH ISA, BUT ON LOOKING AT THE HALF YEARLY STATEMENT I RECEIVED FROM ABBEY, IT SAYS AS I HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ISA IN THIS TAX YEAR I CANNOT INVEST IN ANY OTHER ISA. IS THAT RIGHT
  • hi there,

i have currently filled up my cash ISA for this year and was hoping to transfer all of the £3600 in my cash ISA as well as a further £3600 into a self select shares ISA. I understand this is possible?

I was hoping to use all of my shares ISA allowance to buy £7200 in one particular stock which trades on the AIM rather than the main london stock exchange. Based on this what would be my best choice of shares ISA to open?

thank you to anyone who can help with this

Yes you can do that but that is extremely risky and dangerous. All eggs in one basket and all.
  • hi lokolo,

i realise this is risky but since i have other savings that risk is acceptable to me - it the stock went bust i wouldnt be cleaned out

if i do chose to go down this route what would you reccomend as the best company to hold the shares isa? I generally buy my shares with hoddless brennan but to get a shares isa with them costs £50 a year which seems pricey

As well as this years allowance i do have last years cash isa as well (which i put £3000 into). Am i right in saying i could transfer that into the shares isa as well?

    cheers

    Yes you can do that.

You can open ISAs with different providers; iii, HL, TD Waterhouse. Just look around for the cheapest.
  • cheers, i think i'll go with alliance trust
  • Hi
Just a bit confused could someone help please!! I have a maxi isa with the co-op which I have had for years I've taken money out of it over the years and it's only worth about £5500 at the moment, the thing is I don't think its really a performer, if it ever was! Just wondering really what my options are? I think I'm tied in for another year (I pay £150 in each month) but is it worth putting it else where? If so where and how?
Any advice would be great as I have no idea.
    Thanks in advance
  • Hi
I have just started to invest in ISA'S ( 2 years) and have an Active protector fund Shares Isa it appears to be losing some money but this is the present climate . As I only intend to invest for 10 years i wondered if I would be better with cash Isa and invest the rest of money elsewhere?
  • I have always kept my money invested "safe" in a Cash ISA and I am now wondering if it would be a good time to invest some money in a FTSE Tracker ISA? I was thinking of investing around £2000 for 10+ years, and possibly adding to it in the future. As share prices and the FTSE seem quite low at the moment, I was thinking they can only be higher in 10 years than they are now? And what type of investment ISA should I go for?
