Does anyone know of an uptodate detailed UK cable map on the net?
The extra saving of moving to a cable area, using VoIP to make calls. :P Not worth moving but hey, it's an extra consideration for when I move as it will save me at least £100 a year.

Apart from just going to Telewest's/NTL's website and entering a valid post code of where you are thinking of moving to then I don't think there is any other way (as far as i'm aware)0

https://www.broadbandchecker.co.uk gives details of what broadband services including Cable are available for any given postcode.0

Thanks,
the only thing is I've put my current postcode in, I don't live in a cable area yet the checker says I do. :E
What do you guys think of this?

Admittedly this is way too much hastle just to avoid the £10.50 BT phoneline charge, but were this to come down in price I wonder if it would be a viable alternative combined with VoIP.
Anyone have an idea what the performace of voip on a satellite internet connection will be like?
actually forget it I mean it's 256k anyway and no idea what the upstream is.
How poor these services are going to look once 24mb broadband gets going. Even more reason to lobby ofcom into BT offering pure DSL lines.

Also, another site that is generally updated frequently and is a bit more informative is www.samknows.com0

The upstream for this service is done through a dial up connection. So I can't see it being very fast at all. Plus you will still need a telephone line. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
