One aged 20 will have the minimum wage looked at and possibly Working Tax Credits.
.
Sorry to nitpick, but unless the 20 year old has kids (=family tax credit), they have to wait 'til they're 25 to claim Working Tax Credit.
Does it cost me less to live from 18 - 25? Er.... NO.

Its the "claim" bit I find irritating. This government makes people beg for money that should be theirs in the first place. Changing the tax allowances is far too easy for this government they want people to think they are getting something, out of a caring government, not to mention the cost of administration !:mad:"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

No one has said how much the extra winter fuel payment is going to be I have lost £160 per year from these tax changes I can't imagine in my wildest dreams it will be that much. Other 60 - 64s who don't pay tax will also benefit from this extra payment. The whole thing is ludicrous I can't see why the rest of the government are now supporting this witout any concrete figures. he will probably put something paltry like £25 on to the witer fuel allowance and it will be too late then they will have voted in favour of the tax changes.0

There is a glimmer of good news. Even though GB seems - somehow - to have conned the rebel MP's (and I am amazed that Frank Field fell for this one), the political damage has been done. The Labour party are now unelectable, at any level. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

The plot has been well and truly lost. Brown seems to think employers should bear the brunt of his total incompetence through the suggested increase to the minimum wage for youngsters. I give up !.................

That's my other
Making people beg for what they've had taken off them, that's disgusting.
I heard a comment that it gets people used to "handouts" and reliance on the nanny state, so people are more likely to sign on and less likely to have pride in actually having a job (I'm talking fairly menial lowish paid job here).
Makes sense to me.
If you make me beg for a bit of cash, I may as well jack it in and "scrounge" the lot. Technically I'm better off on the dole, then I've got time to search out moneysaving bargains, grow own veg etc, sunbathe......
But I won't because I've got a smidge of pride left.
Rant over!:o"She who asks is a fool once. She who never asks is a fool forever"

It may be that this government won't rest until it has everone in the country on some kind of benefit.
I can just about cope with a prime minister who's a laughing stock, but I don't wish my country to become one..................

Hope he isn't expecting employers to backdate the increase as well!"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
