Car insurance nightmare

This site has been great for saving me money but ive lost all i saved now and more. I follwed the car insurance page & got loads of car insurance quotes from confused.com .Cheapest was insure your motor.com so i thought great & put all my husbands details in (hes the driver) & his bank details. We then decided to pay installments by direct debit which made actual price rocketed up to £281.61 .Anyway we put a deposit down of just over £60 & meanwhile hunted for husbands driving license to send them .They really hassled me by email & hardly gave us any time until they said we had 5 days until they would cancel& then now we have cancelled your insurance now (in letter & email) .So we though fair enough. Got a letter to say they wanted £31.29 & my husband said you cancelled it , they agreed, next they have tried to take it out of his account & bounced it ,then causing 2 other payments to bounce (over £100 in bank charges!!!!!).We went on holiday for a week & have come back to a load of letters saying they want over £61(aswell as our £60 deposit) or we have to pay £281.61 if not paid by end august. They have cost us nearly a years motor insurance & still want more.we are so broke ,we are living on beans this week as we cant afford shopping & they still wont let go. What a truly nightmare company. Tried ringing again but most unhelpful apparently there are only 3 people on the phones & manager in meeting all day(how convenient!).Steer clear & beware of them cancelling the policy .Insure your car . com , thanks for nothing! Any advice anyone? (& not on how to make beans on toast more exciting!)

Hi Mandles I've moved you over to the vent board, as I can see your quite rightly venting!!!

I had sort of the same prob with them last year, I didn't have any proof of my full no claims bonus from the previous insurer, so they dismissed me rapidly!!! Had a cheque sent for the refund and that was that, I was left uninsured without knowing it!!
I'd never bother with them again either, sorry I can't help much, but I know how to make baked beans more livelier!

I'd be contacting the Insurance Ombudsman for you area, BBCs Watchdog and your bank to block any payments from this company and I'd also be asking the insurance company to pay the bank charges you've occured with a letter including about demanding money by menace being illegal.
IMO they have no right to any money off you whatsoever under the cooling off period.
Dont let them get away with it.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Adding to what Silent Bob said, these Direct Debit payments were unauthorised by you so you should contact the bank who will be obliged to return the money and resulting bank charges immediately. Explain that this is causing financial hardship and that you want all money returned to your account today. The bank will then take the issue up with the insurer.
Don't bother wasting time and money arguing with the insurance company. The Direct Debit guarantee makes this your banks problem, not yours. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
