You don't buy a router to go with a PC, it needs to be compatible with your ISP.
Virgin broadband is supplied via cable and ADSL.

With a modem - but only one computer at a time.
We need to know whether you get your broadband from Virgin Media via their cable network or via ADSL over a BT line. Then we can advise as cable routers are different to ADSL Modem / Routers. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
virgin used to give away free wifi routers if you moaned at them, usually they tell you just to buy one and they will credit your bill0

They haven't refunded the bill for quite a while. Not when they have their own online shop to sell you one.
If you are on cable broadband, they are giving away free routers, but you need to upgrade from M to L or L to XL and stay on that package for 12 months, If on XL then you can get one for £7.50. However it remains VM property.
See: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/wireless_howmuch.html
You can buy the same router elsewhere for £30 and other makes and models from £20. From the likes of PCWorld (spit), eBuyer, Dabs, Broadbandbuyer, Broadbandstuff, eBay, http://accessories.virginmedia.com/webstore/search.aspx?CatId=1&GroupRelationSelected=34 etc.
However without knowing if you are cable or ADSL we can't recommend any as a cable router won't work on ADSL and an ADSL router won't work on cableIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
The OP still does not seem to understand that the router must be compatible with the ISP and the technology used to provide broadband, not the PC that is to be used. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
