Moving from Madasafish - Deferred activation

Options
Just requested a MAC code from Madasafish, they are charging £40.96 deferred activation! I have been with them for over two years, is this normal?

Thanks

David

That £40.96 is the charge they make if they have done a "free" connection for you, and you leave before the minimum 12 months are up.

Have you moved house and had another "free" connection?
  • After speaking to them, it appears that 1 year, less 8 days, ago I re-negotiated a 12 month contract with better terms. The charge is for leaving within this period, so if I had waited 8 days, I have been told, there would not be a charge.

What I'll do in this case is nothing, I assume that if you request a MAC code but don't use it, your account just keeps on as normal?

Its a bit annoying they didn't mention this on the phone when I requested the MAC code.

    Thanks

As you have to give them 30 days notice, then you will have been with them 12 months and 22 days. (if they are saying you are now 8 days away from completing your 12 month's contract), before your contract ends anyway.

So they have got it wrong in saying there will be any early termination fee for you.
  • That's a good point!

Given that I have spent at least half-an-hour on the phone to them today I'll leave it I think and try again next month.

Its left a bitter taste in my mouth though.

    Thanks for your help.
  • You could always try posting on the madasafish customer service thread... they seem to get things sorted a lot quicker than phoning the "customer service" team... I shall try and find a link...

Yeah, Samara was the only reason I renewed.

Now 2 months later they've suddenly increased my payment from the agreed £9.99 to £14.99 a month. Perhaps it's a mistake, otherwise it's downright illegal.

If you now want to get out of this "new" 12 months contract you shouldn't have too much to pay by way of an early termination fee because of this!
