I have loads of 'proper' bags, I just never remember to take them with me when I go shopping!0

I got one of these bags for life yesterday,M&S must'nt expect me to live long as it came apart at the side before I got to my car and I only had a couple of packets of biscuits and a loaf of bread in it.0

M&S Stores in South West England are not participating in the Free Bag For Life offer because they have already started charging for bags after a trial.
Anyone know what will happen if you use the self checkout after 6th May? Are they going to start barcoding the green plastic bags and we have to scan it for 5p?0 -
we in n.ireland have been paying for bags at M&S for some months now.As is the norm for us,we're non-complaining, so charge us the highest prices for everything even though the basics are home produce!M&S want the shopper to pay for a bag that advertises their business!! supposedly with the revenue going on green issues?0

Hi All,
Just got back from good old Marks & Sparks and thought you'd like to know of this freebie.
I got mine at the food till, advertised as 10p each but cost gets deducted at the end of the bill. It's a recycled plasticy type bag with a large purple flower on it.
ps. From May 5th-ish they will start charging 5p for bog basic plastic bags.0 -
Thanks OP but already posted here.

My colleague went into M&S at lunchtime and was offered a free 'bag for life'. She'd made a purchase, so I'm unsure if you would get one if you weren't buying anything. Apparently these are free until 6th May, after which they will cost 10p or 15p each.
