Mobile Phone Contract Needed! HELP
Options
Hi,
My brother has given me the task of finding him a mobile phone contract.
He is a Plummer so a strong phone will be needed. He has one of those Rubber Nokias at the minute, but it hasn't got bluetooth and he needs this as he is getting a bluetooth device in his van to connect to the phone through the stereo.
He is on PAYG at the moment but is looking at contract deals. He wants to pay £15 to £20 and will need around 200 Minutes and 50 texts. We have been looking at the new Nokia 6300 but any suggestions will be considered.
Also, I have just signed up for Quidco, will I be able to do it through my account, or will my brother have to sign up too? The deals where you have to send your bills are okay, but only ones that have had good experiences please, I haven't got time to be messing around chasing things.
Thanks alot for your help!

The JCB Tough would be ideal for him, but it's not that cheap on contract, on payg you can get it unlocked from Play.com for £179.99 or on Vodafone payg for £99.99 (though obviously will only work on their network)
Can't seem to find it on contract for less than £30 a month... might be worth getting it on payg and taking out a separate contract and use the sim in the tough phone?
You can get the 6300 on cashback from mobiles2yourdoor, 12 months free via cashback, (£40 p/m before cashback) and its 500mins/500txts
alternatively e2save do the 6300 on O2 cashback deal with 20mins/200 texts for
£2.99 a month (£30 before cashback)SLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -
Well my brother has had a look at the JCB phone and really likes it, but is just not keen on the prices at the moment.
By coincidence there is a part on Gadget show tonight (8pm Five) with a review on tough phones, so he is going to have a look at that first.
Any other suggestions?

The Samsung (M110) that was reviewed - is available at Tesco for sub £40 with a £10 top up included.

I *believe* (I've not actually tried this to find out) that if you buy the Vodafone one for £99.99 it comes with a Vodafone SIM card BUT - and here's the big Moneysaving tip :money: - it's actually UNLOCKED until you put the Vodafone SIM in it. Or, to put it another way, if you buy the £99.99 phone, you get an unlocked phone which you can then put your own PAYG or contract SIM into, from any network, and in the process you SAVE £80 by not buying the officially unlocked one.
As I said, I've not actually tried the theory, but I'm pretty sure it works. Anyone who knows for certain, letting me and everyone else know would be appreciated0 -

This does not sound right. I'm not sure it's physically possible to get a sim card to lock a phone once it's inserted. A sim is just like a DVD for a DVD player, the phone only reads info off it - then again, I haven't kept in touch with comms dev lately, so would be happy to be proven wrong :-)Official DFW Nerd Club: Member No: 6190 -
It's possible for a phone to be set to lock to the MCC/MNC of the first SIM used, but it's rarely done.0

Just incase anyone still has an eye on this thread, i received my jcb toughphone today from play.com and bought the £99.99 version which is supposedly locked. i put my virgin payg sim card in it and it works fine.
only one problem. it says T-mobile on the screen even though its a virgin sim card inside and it came with a vodafone sim card.0 -
Does anybody know who makes the JCB phone, Nokia??
