As for ledgers versus spreadsheets I like spreadsheets too. And Bandroi's explanation is what I would have gone for. Keep it simple. As for the "pack" they are going to send you I suspect you will find all the info that will be in that here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/selfemployed/

Apparently the course they want to put me on is the course you have to do before you get promoted. The promotion will only come once I've brought in 6 recruits, as they'll then become my team. Trouble is the first part of the course is at 10.30 on thursday. Not exactly sure of the amount of work involved but can only presume that'll be what the course makes clear.

So you have to commit to the course that you don't really know if you have the time to commit to until you get there? Hmmm think your boss can do better than that. Although I guess you can change your mind any time, it is free I take it? I am very aware everyone else has just said great go for it and I have to be all boring and cautious.:o But heck if you reckon you can fit it in then you go girl. OU hasn't started yet, when does it? September? If it is then that is heaps of time to get your AS team up and running I am sure.

Try keeping a diary and pen in the car at all times. I find this works for my very forgetful hubby. !!
