I too heard alot about the Boots Rosewater G Glycerin toner then went and got it... and found it sticky... probably the glycerin - any others found this? I do want to get plain rosewater though and on ebay there are a few places I might try.

I got a massive bottle of rosewater very cheaply in the 'ethnic' foods section of my local Tesco.

Thanks once again for all your great replies!

I've now compiled a list of everything that's been mentioned so far (please let me know if I've missed anything) and will continue adding to it as more people share their recommendations.

Please let me know if the list is clear enough in the way it's laid out with categories etc. Any suggestions welcome.

There are still no recommendations for foundations, tinted moisturisers, lipsticks or lip balms, and the list is a bit short on hair care products and hand creams. Any suggestions for products in these categories (that you genuinely feel perform as well as the very expensive brands) gratefully received.

    Cheers folks!

I really love this thread!! i have a list as long as my arm now of stuff I want, in total it probably won't come anywere near the amount I pay on beauty products at the min! I was loving mac for a while but not so sure about it now, looking a new foundation and concealer, im going to try the rimmel concealer but still haven't decided which foundation to use, might wait and see whats on offer in boots next time im in!

keep up the good work people! :T I think its brilliant the way your doing that at the start of the thread, it def makes it easier to see which products people are recommending as i don't always have time to read through all the posts cos im supposed to be working!! oopppsss  just cant help it!! im hooked!! :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence Curly.

Anyone notice the number of stars received by Palmer's Cocoa Butter? A definite favourite there!

Well as regards foundation... I'm not sure if it counts as dirt cheap, but then again I don't think anybody expects to be able to get foundation for 50p  One that has been well recommended on the other cosmetics thread, and one I would certainly endorse myself, is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. It's generally possible to find a special offer in Boots or Superdrug or Savers in order to get it for a fiver, even though it retails at £6.99. I use it in shade 001 - Ivory, and it gives great coverage and no streaks.

I recommend for Hair the Tresemme range, its often on offer as a buy 1 get from free and the large bottles last for ages.

I have some Avon Mouse Foundation and have found this quite good, think it was 4.00 for the pot.

Bourjos Eyeliner Pen (felt tip type) is good for doing your top lid and then use crayon type for the bottom (lady at MAC counter gave this tip, and it does work).

Another Eyeliner I have found very good is the Boots No 17 again its a liquid pen, comes in 2 colourse soft mocha and jet, the jet one is good and it stays on all day.

Has anyone used the GOSH brand at Superdrug, the eyeshadows got really good review in LOOK magazine and its supposed to be same manufacturers as MAC but don't know if this is true.

Will definately try some of the brands mentioned above, I love Benefit Blusher so will try the equivalent and let my friends know.

    Thanks

Great thread! As anyone who knows me will vouch, Kris if you're reading this! - I spend way way way to much money on make up and stuff! But my bargain contribution is Collection 2000 compact foundation, little blue compact with mirror and sponge, costs £3.99 I think. Goes on well dry and brilliantly if you damp the sponge, lasts really well and doesn't go flaky like some do on my dry bits! Recommended it to a friend with oily, spot prone skin and works equally well on her! :D

For dark circles try eyessential. I had a demo when it was on offer in Debenham's but didn't get round to buying it. Within minutes the diiference was noticable. It also firms the skin. The effect lasted a few days.

Not sure how much it was but it was extremely effective. It is sometimes available on Ideal World.

    Hi everyone!

I don't think this has been mentioned yet - Collection 2000's Illuminating Touch

It is a fantastic under eye concealer that knocks the socks off YSL Touch Eclait (sp?).

I'm not sure how much it is, but it's definitely no more than £5.00 and I can't live without it. It's brilliant at covering up under eye bags.

    Hope this helps someone :-)
