It's a way of deep cleansing the skin, using a mix of castor oil and another oil such as olive oil, the proportions of each depending on skin type. It's supposed to be good for balancing the skin and minimising pores. See article: http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/
Lots of people swear by it. The jury's still out as far as I'm concerned- I used it for a few weeks then stopped, as I was getting spots. But I've gone back on it now and will give it a good go before making up my mind!

Ah that's perfect,I wanted to minimise my pores at the moment, otherwise skin is ok. I will take a look,I am 47 and have sensative skin.I am on a very low calorie diet( and low fat) at the moment and need something to put a bit more moisture back in.

have another find to report ladies!

waitrose baby bottom butter. think it costs about £2.50 ish. I thought i would give it a go as i had read something somewhere in one of the papers saying it had been selling out as a cult product and managed to get my paws on it!

it has about three ingredients in it virgin olive oil, vanilla and i think its vitamin E- your oil cleansing talk made me remember it

its quite heavy and so best as a night cream me thinks to let it sink in over night but leaves my skin lovely and soft and isnt full of rubbish chemicals. a little goes a very long way and is good for getting off stuborn makeup too. tried the aldi one too but this is by far a lot better might not be to everyones taste though as its basically an oil.

    xx

oooo just to add would be good on cuticles, feet, knees and elbows as it is a balm but melts very easily with a bit of heat! x

I believe the waitrose baby bottom butter was very hard to get hold of a while back. Is it readily available again now?

I haven't been able to get it (sign saying temporarily unavailable due to high demand). Last checked a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you for the warning Yenners.

Can I ask what proportions you are using in the oils for the OCM? Also which carrier oil are you using and how many times a week are you doing it?? (Sorry about the Spanish Inquisition!!!:D )

Harryharp, sorry for the late reply, only just saw your post now. I'm using 20% castor oil and 80% grapeseed oil. I have combination skin - and am using the OCM about 3 to 4 times a week. I find that it has loosened my clogged pores around my nose and chin area so the congestion is very easily extracted. I use a pair of ultra fine tweezers and pull out the clogged bits in my pores. (sorry of that sounds gross)

The open pores on my cheeks seem much reduced and I have less spots than before.
Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!

I see, thanks. What do you mean by the congestion in your pores if I may ask- what are you removing with the tweezers- blackheads or what? Or is it those whitehead things that are usually very difficult to get rid of? I've had a few of those for ages:o
