Hi all - just wondered if anyone has heard of or used Dr Bronner?
    http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Dr_Bronner_s_Peppermint_Soap_Liquid_32_fl_oz

Seems completely natural, apparently lasts ages and can be used for 18 purposes! Could this be the Stardrops of the cosmetics industry?

It's not too expensive and I have found some in an organic store. As it's so natural, I got the rose scented one out of curiosity, to use as a face wash. Anyone else know of it? It could be that I've just wasted more money on another dash of hope...
I ordered a Dr. Bronner's 'Unscented Baby-Mild Pure-Castille Soap' recently out of curiosity, from the company I get my soap-nuts from. To be honest I don't really 'get' it- to me it just seems like an ordinary liquid soap...and all the writing on the bottle makes it sound like it's from some sort of religious cult!

Am I missing something? Maybe someone else can shed some light...

Same here - I got it out of curiosity - Mr EL thought it was quirky and even tried some because he likes weird things like that label on the bottle... now he smells of roses :rotfl: I reckon he'd like peppermint one more...

My mission for a non-drying gentle cleanser that is cheaper than Clarins comforting wash cream goes on... but at this rate, I've already bought 2 cheaper products and not having any luck - false economy, somebody stop me! :o

How about coverage, does it end up streaky. How long does it last without chipping

As I said I only use it on my toes, but it lasts well.

Coverage is great, but then I do use pillar box red, so its a strong colour.
  • Hi there

I just wanted to add to this thread if you don't mind. I discovered some time ago a little known manufacturer of makeup called Go* Cosmetics. They advertise mostly on the shopping channels. The quality is brilliant, as good as some of the well known manufacturers of similar products, but a fraction of the price. I use the Tinted Moisturiser With Lift, the Light Reflecting Concealer, the Mineral foundation, lots of the eyeshadows and the lip glosses. They bring out new stuff all the time, like the Transformer Eyeshadow to Eyeliner kit and all the glitter stuff is to die for :D

I order my stuff from this website cos their prices are great and it's free delivery anywhere in the UK. They deliver quickly too and it's packaged well.

Hope you don't mind me adding my two-penneth to this thread :D.

    Cheers

All sounds lovely...BUT... I was just wondering whether or not you're affiliated to this company or this website at all? Sorry to sound suspicious, but I noticed that your other post was about the exact same thing.

I'm really sorry if this isn't the case and it's a genuine recommendation, I don't mean to offend but I hope you understand why I'm asking. :o

I'm sure Go Cosmetics is a good company- as it's already been recommended on this thread.
  • Phew! I was up until midnight reading through this thread, its great :) Ironically i've just been watching Lorraine and they had a feature on budget beauty buys - Vaseline lotion, BarryM cosmetics, Savlon cream (for spots), Dove hair stuff i think were all mentioned plus others.

I love Palmers Cocoa butter, i tried the Body Shop's cocoa butter lotion as i love their body butter (but wont pay £10 a tub for it!!) but the smell wasn't nice imo.

I use Rimmel makeup mainly - love their new concealer 'Anti fatigue', Sun shimmer bronzing powder, normal powder compact, eyeshadow palettes etc with a few bits from 17 and the Natural Collection. NC's clear mascara is great and i think its around £1.89. I only ever buy cheap nail varnish from Collection 2000, Natural Collection etc because i get bored with colours and change them all the time.

I use a small spray of cheap hairspray on an eyebrow comb to tame unruly hairs, works better for me than the clear mascara.

I use Olay's everyday sunshine moisteriser, thinks its around £6/£7 but i had a voucher in my bounty pack for £2 off. When this runs out i'm going to try Asda's own version.

St Ives facial scrub - i've tried god knows how many brands and this is the best, i always stock up when i see it on bogof.

Dove summer glow - loads better than the Johnsons Holiday skin imo, leaves my skin lovely and soft and looks very natural.

Sunsilk shampoos and conditioners - all £1 each at Asda at the moment. I'm using the Brunette ones which i alternate with the anti itch shampoo for my sensitive scalp.

Asda's essential care facial wipes, 3pks for £2 - just as good as the johnsons/simple/nivea brands

Think thats it, might be back later though! :)

    Loving reading everyones recommendations!

I'd love some more recommendations on mascara though as I haven't been able to find one I like in ages (Bourjois Clubbing mascara at the moment which is thick and gloopy and the brush is awful - not recommended.)

I'm using Max Factor's Masterpiece at the moment (another money off coupon in my Bounty pack) Its usually £7/£8.99 but Boots had it in for £5.99 plus i had a £2 coupon so cheaper than my usual Rimmel one. I think its fab, doesn't clump and really opens my eyes. When it runs out i'm going to try using the brush with another mascara as i think its the brush that does it tbh but if not i wouldn't mind paying full price for it because its so good :)

After reading another couple of posts re this Concealer I thought I would try it out.

Many thanks to the other ladies that mentioned this, in this thread :T

Managed to buy one for £1 on ebay at the weekend and it arrived this morning. I have sensitive skin so tried the product first on the crease of the elbow. No reaction, so tried on my terrible eye bags (dark and just horrible)

I think I have maybe bought a colour that is too pale for me ... I am fair skinned with strawberry blonde hair and 01 is a little too pale but with my Laura Geller over the top I think it will be fine.

I shall see if I can get shade 02 for the summer months.

Consistancy is good ... nice liquid and a brush applicator. No smell. Easy to blend. I think a little is best and build up as you need. Maybe apply with a concealer brush as the brush in the product is pretty loaded.

I normally use Body Shop concealer but it really isnt "doing it" any more on my dark circles :o ... it was time for a change.

I am thinking this will last for some time as a little went a long way. Not sure how it stands up to an all day/evening makeup but then for this price, I dont care ;)

Bagain I think .... would not have tried either if not for these pages as I have not purchased Collection2000 before. Think I shall be looking at other items of theirs from now on.

    Thumbs up from me :j

Can anyone recommend what to use for my complexion which always looks flushed and I blush easily. I have recently got No 7 Colour Calming green base make up but not sure whatelse to use with it. My skin is sensitive too so have to be careful on what I use.
I'm enjoying reading this thread some great suggestions.
  • must add to this thread to say that the collection 2000 concealer is great. however.... i bought a collection 2000 3-in-1 foundation in fawn the other day. i should have bought a paler one as it is too dark for me, but when i was trying it out, i noticed that it had an awful smell. thinking that it was the new songe that smelt, i tried applying it with one of my own and could still smell it. so.... had a sniff of the foundation itself to find that it smells of fish:eek: needless to say i wouldn't be using it even if it was the right shade,as no woman wants to walk around smelling of fish. have checked that it has not gone out of date so i don't know if i have an extra sensitive nose or if anybody else has found this?
must just mention that i buy boots natural collection eyeshadow in white opal, it is great as a base colour for for your whole eye area and i find it helps to apply it under darker colours for more staying power!

also, its not the cheapest, but following my experience with the collection 2000 foundation, i have gone back to using the body shops all-in-one face base. it costs £11.50 but got one from ebay for £7 and it seems a false economy for me to buy others that i don't get on with:cool:
