Hi
I am in the throws of setting up a mast photography business and I am wondering what is the best way to get interest in what I have to offer. Basically, mast photography is the use of a telescopic pole (upto 50ft) with a camera mounted at the top, operated remotely via a laptop. It means you can get birds eye shots that are high res. Typical applications are property shots, I have already made contact with estate agents. I have started to build a website too.
I am thinking of advertising on my car. Also, possibly a leaflet drop. The hope is recommendation eventually. I just need a good push start really, how would you do it???
Cheers in advance

Have you approached building surveyors ? saves on scaffolding .
Have you googled " mast photography " to get ideas from the opposition.
Good Luck.0 -
Don't forget to also offer it to other commercial photographers on a rental basis complete with operator. The only thing to consider is that you are working for them so once the job is completed you may not hold the copyright to the images and wouldn't be able to use them for publicity afterwards. Good luck also.0

You have a specialised niche so you need to concentrate specifically on potiential customers for your product.
Leaflet drops and car ads are broad spectrum marketing and probabably a waste of money. Unlike a builder, plumber or decorator, most people will never need or want your services.
However, this very charming young woman come to my door a few years ago with framed prints of my house taken by a helicopter(?). I didn't buy but my neighbour did! Were they a successful business? Who knows?
So think creatively. What about big parties or weddings. You might get sub-contracts from wedding photographers.
So research the market. Also be sure to check the grammar and spelling of any promotional material you do -- if you don't, it make people think you don't care about the dtails.0 -

save-a-lot, I don't know if oldtoolie was referring specifically to anything in your posts, but in your first one the word 'throws' should be 'throes'. I doubt if that's a word you'll use a lot in your advertising, and even if you did there may not be many of us who would notice, so excuse me for pointing it out.
And forgive me oldtoolie, I'm sure you were just thinking faster than you can type. What you say is as ever very sensible!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
thanks everyone, usually spot on with the written word - this was a slip0
