Admiral Insurance Complaint

Admiral are useless. I had a multicar policy for my Alfa to start the day i signed up for the policy (aka, immediately) and for my Fiat to go on when the current policy expired 3 months later. When the policy documents came in 3 days later i found that they had set the start date of the alfa to 3 weeks time so i had been driving without insurance.
I managed to get that corrected and assumed that it was all over but no. My Fiat's old insurance passes and I go to tax it only to be told it is not insured! I check my documents and my Fiat's cover starts at 8:45 pm that day??? So I had driven to work that morning without insurance as well.
Bunch of incompitants and they will not be getting my renewal.0 -
Interesting! I'm just shopping for a new policy and will give Admiral a miss (which is a shame as they came up with the best price on two comparison sites).
I hope someone from Admiral eventually realises how much business getting a bad reputation can cost.0 -
Did you know Admiral own, Confused.com?
Makes you wonder about the online quotes.
Admiral also own, Elelphant, Bell direct and diamond insurance companies.
Compare the Market is owned by Budget. This one is a bit naughty, as all of the brands quoted are Budget group companies – but they don’t make that obvious.0 -
We were unlucky enough to have our locked and secured car off our drive on 31st August. We were finally provided with a courtesy car this morning almost 3 WEEKS after the incident and this has been more down to the repair garage rather than Admiral. Where to begin with them!.....
We reported our car stolen and recovered on 2nd September and they were quick off the mark to get our car collected from the police recovery place - good start we thought.
We received a dedicated claims handler - who never appears to be available to talk to and therefore you have to relay the whole episode each time you call the claims department!
We paid for the Hire Car cover at renewal and our understanding of this extra was that you received a hire car if your car was subject to a claim and therefore unavailable to drive - when we asked about this, we were told that it is only in the event of a total loss or unrecovered stolen vehicle! Not worth the £30 extra cost then!
The thieving gits took everything from inside our car, including our 2 kids car seats and our 2 yr old's pushchair. Initially we were told that our car seats were covered for £300. It then transpires that they will cover up to £100 each seat and that this isn't actually stated on the policy - its just a goodwill thing they do! Our boy's seat alone cost in excess of £200. We mentioned that we had initially been told it was £300 cover, and we were then told this was incorrect. Apparently though it seems that if we have a multicar policy we would have the car seats and the pushchair covered under the policy - we don't have multicar as we are a one car household, therefore even though the policy is fully comprehensive we are penalised because we can't afford to have 2 cars!
Those things aside - the handling of our claim has been appalling from start to finish. We have had to make phone calls daily to get updates, WE have had to contact the garage for updates! My husband had to threaten to collect the car from the garage before Admiral finally authorised the repair works on the vehicle - this was after being 2 weeks without transport and with no sign of having any! We then contacted the garage as instructed by Admiral to be told by them that they had asked admiral more than a week ago to get us to the garage to go over the vehicle with their estimator so they could ascertain the damage to the vehicle as a result of the theft! They have told us different things each time we call, and seemed to be stalling almost looking for ways to get out of paying the claim!
A very stressful, upsetting situation has been made all the more difficult with the incompetence of Admiral - they will not be getting our business in future, and we are in the process of putting a complaint together to them and the ombudsman. Sorry for the long post - could have been much longer!0 -
I doubt I will renew with them
just changed a car we had for 3 years, a group 9 car (1.9 dci) that was £160 fully comp
to a group 8 car - they said it was a group 12 (1.6 diesel) cost £64 extra
we had a problem with the car so took it back got refund etc etc
now just got a group 4 1.5dci car and just got a £9 refund!
This car is 5 groups lower than the car initially insured with them
then the 1.6 engine was higher group than the 1.9 car, RIP OFF
Each time they said they had their own groups and the car had a higher risk, dearer parts etc0 -
do new customer quotes for each of the cars, this will tell you the relative costs and if they don't tally with what they have been charging you then lodge a complaint0
-
Tried that, they say that is for new customers0

They don't have to match it, the current policy hadn't expired
Of course they could say they will match it, by cancelling and renewing
!!!
Who would do that0 -
Admiral are utter scumbags. We've had a fire and they're twisting themselves inside out to avoid paying us. Utter scumbags. We're going to the FCA with three complaints about them.0
