Haven't tried them yet but we have a big elder in the back so hope to when I get some time. That link also has recipes for wine and port and stuff, seems very useful. Good luck0 -

You can also make a lovely red wine with the berries.

ive got 3 gallon of elderberry wine on the go at the moment its one of the nicest wines ive made

You can use them like blueberries (if you have any blueberry recipes) - they are good in muffins (American Style ones)0 -
I managed to find some elderberries last w/e, but none that I can find locally to me, boo hoo.
Anyway ... yes to the wine ... just in the process of making our first attempt
Oh and you can use them in crumbles like you would use blackberries.

Can you make elderberry ice-cream?
I follow the recipe below for bramble ice-cream and wondered if it would work for elderberries?
200ml double cream
75g sugar (up to 100g if sour fruit)
1/2 lemon
1 lb brambles woozed up with a blender.0 -
When I was looking I found recipes for Elderberry Vinegar, Elderberry Chutney, Elderberry Ketchup and Elderberry Catsup...all by Googling!!!!!!:D
They are very tedious to strip off the stalks though.........:oLaughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
I was gutted today to see that the groundskeepers have cut down the elderberry bush that i have picked from for years. All thats left is a pile of logs.:(0
