has anyone ever tried elderberries in chutney? i've got a huge amount of them ripening in a park near to me and i've also been trying to think of things to make with them
i def plan to make a syrup from them as well as from rosehips as both are good for colds, flu and such like and with extra nastiness going around this year because of swine flu i figure a tablespoon of both each day should stand me and the wee one in good stead against winter beasties...
however, i do have plenty more of both berries and rose hips then i could make syrup from so please bring on the recipes i'm up for it too!0 -

You could make an elderberry and apple pie (just substitute elderberries for blackberries in any recipe). It has a rich, wine-like taste, complemented by the apple and sweet pastry - my husband and friend wolfed it down.0

They are a fruit after all.0 -
Elderberry champagne is amazing, as is elderberry cordial. It's pretty pricey in store usually, so will be briliant to make some of your own!
