Halifax fixed rate ISA

As I dont expect to need access to my ISA money I am going to use my £3600 allowance for 08/09 for the four year fix with Halifax at 6.2%. I would have liked to do a transfer in from another fixed Halifax ISA as well but that doesnt mature till 11/04 and in my experience Halifax drop their ISA rates within days of the new tax year. So I dont think I will wait although that will mean Iwill have to think again on11/4 as you can only do one transaction on each of the Halifax fixed rate ISAs

Anyway my question is: has anyone opened a Halifax fixed rate today online? I wondered if you can pay immediately online by debit card ifyou are already a Halifax customer ? Otherwise, although rate will be guaranteed (?)it may take a couple of weeks for paperwork? I am not sure I can face the branch, its always rammed and ISAs dont seem to be something you can just hand over a printed out application form for - its always come back to see an 'advisor'

I cant ring them today as shut - but maybe a telephone application tomorrow might be best?

Just wondered what people's experience has been over past few weeks. Many thanks

If you're an existing Halifax customer .. it's easy enough to open a fixed rate online and then fund it directly from a (Halifax) current or Web account. Having said that - I've always found they're a bit of a nightmare (systems + telephony) immediately around the 6th .... and have vowed not to touch them for at least a week into the new financial year.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
