looped muzak in shops/resturants- how to get it banned?

all i want to do is go shopping (yes, men do shop!) in relative peace, with space to browse and look at the goods instead of being bumped into (currys, take note!), and also not have to put up with the god awful noise (some tone deaf folks may call it music..) that gets pumped around the shop.. burger king are latest culprits- the staff dont appear to have heard about volume control, and were totally disinterested in my polite request for it to be turned down- if only just a tad, so my fillings didnt rattle.
and as for the Argos 'ticket number x, to collection point A please' on constanlt, despite monitors clearly showing where you are in the queue.. AARRGGH!
perhaps its an age thing?

I had a personal triumph when I turned the massive flat screen TV off at Tesco the other day. I had to wait until no staff were close by. I hate unwatched TV noise.
Actually, that was the worst thing about Norfolkline ferries. It was 12 midnight, everyone was trying to sleep, and there wasn't a single place on baord that wasn't within earshot of a massive flat screen TV blaring out junk.Happy chappy0 -

I think you'll find it's not on for entertainment but as a demonstration of sound/picture quality.0 -
I know, but it's still annoying background noise.Happy chappy0

Perhaps it best you avoid anywhere that sells entertainment equipment.0 -
muzak isn't text speak. The word predates mobile phones by decades.
http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=MuzakThey say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

"muzak" isn't chav speak as far as I'm aware. The term "elevator muzik" has been in use for years.Happy chappy0 -

How do you know someone wasn't going to come in at 10:05 pm and didn't want to look and buy it?0 -

Try working in a supermarket listening to the rubbish they loop on the 'radio' everyday. They even play it in the staff canteen grrr.
On a note about currys
Went to currys to have a look at laptops, as soon as i was through the door i was pounced on. After 5 mins of sales assistant trying to sell me stuff i firmly told her, thanks for her help but when i do decide I want to buy something from here i would go get her when i was ready. I ended up walking out cos she was just following me around. All i wanted to do was to see what they had to offer fgs0
