Student Finance Direct has Messed me around!

Some help is needed.
After the joy of exam results i am now hitting earth with a huge bang. I sent my application for support 2 days after the deadline and thought great shouldnt be held up that much. I also sent, well my mum did, all the financial details they requested a couple of weeks later. I have now recieved a letter saying they want the information again! This rings alarm bells and makes me think that my application is going to be seriously late in processed. The woman at SFD was not helpfull and as such i have provided my mums details on the internet. Has anyone had this problem before? What should i do?

Thanks in advance for your help

  • I would either check online to see the progress of your account of give them a call.

They have been a nightmare for me as well, I sent my application off back in May, let it for about 5/6 weeks - as thats how long it says it takes to process your account. can them a ring and was told that when i pressed submit an error occurred and they were unable to process my account!...thanks for calling me and letting me know!!

it was only my chance that i remembered to ring them and found out what had happened, was told i would have to complete the application again...i went online a pressed submit and a few days latter a letter cam asking me for my Passport or Driving Licence...am now calling them weekly finding the progress of it

i think their website is v v v unreliable. it will not let me put my bank details in. I think the sertvice could be improved by a lot. Thanks for putting my mind at rest knowing i am not the only one who has been messed around.

I thought mine was handled pretty quickly, i think i sent mine off about a month past the non income assessed deadline and have recieved my loan letters and everything already. btw I'm under Dudley LEA in case it matters to ya!
  • mine took ages to come through and I had to send off all of the details twice, but I've finally been told how much I'm getting to live off of and stuff....

so it should get through to you...in time for the term
  • ill soon see. i just dont like been left in the lurch. thanks for all your help tho.

The student finance website / computer system cost them £300 million, and it hardly ever works. If they were a proper bank and people had the choice of where the student loan came from, they would have no customers at all!

Student Finance Direct messed my application up aswell, they asked for like a photocopy of my parents P60 which we gave them, but they didnt assess the income so now all I got is a non-income assessed loan, no help with tuition fees or help with grants....So I give them a call and they say we have not got anything, I phone again and they say to resubmit the P60, and that sending a photocopy was wrong! but thats what it said on the letter! Anyways I went to my LEA and they sorted it out, hopefully it will be OK in the next 3 weeks.

They were good to me. OK I get all of 50p from my LEA as help towards tuition but they processed me quickly this year.
