Thanks for the update, I tend to have a pretty low opinion of breeders, as so many of them DON'T take responsibility for their dogs. But it really does sound like this lady is doing everything a good breeder ought to do, so all credit to her.
I'm glad her dog has found his way to you and will have a good home now. I hope something can be done for the b!tch :-(
I think we deserve some pics of him though. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
how lucky this dog has been to end up with you and a good home - we had something the same happen to us many years ago, we had a dog about 2 years old and wanted a !!!!! as well, saw one in the local paper and went to see her and i couldn't believe what the lady was offering us - the !!!!! was only 6 months younger than our own and about half the size poor bone quality underfed and her long coat was a mass of tats and she was bathed with a garden hose (still hates the hose after 10 years and there is always a glass door between them) and many other things wrong as well - and i couldn't leave her there so we handed over the money and left very quickly took the dog to our vets and he did suggest putting her to sleep but i spent weeks nursing her back with spoonfeeding and lots of tlc and the other dog just loved her - she is still with us but getting very old now at 12 years old but has had a good life - and the best bit, the lady who we bought her off rang several times to find out when her son could call and collect more money as she had 'missplaced' the money we had given her or he would take the dog back ! had to tell her to stop or we would contact the police and she got tired and gave up - sorry to be so long winded but we do know what your dealing with

Aww just look at that gorgeous squidgy face :grinheart
He looks sooo thin thoughWhen I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Difficult to tell but from that pic he looks in good weight, maybe a little thin but not much. Looking at hos front legs I'd be careful of his weight as he'snot got a great front shape and too heavy might case him front joint problems later on. He's got some problems around his eyes, probably easily fixed with some cream from the vets though
Looks like he's landed on his paws and his breeder is a very responcible breeder which is rare as gold dust! If you can get hold of the other dog then great. Not sure where you stand as to getting your money back - guess it depends on what their contract with the breeder was...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Hmm well maybe it's just the perspective of the photo, but I wouldn't want to see the ridges of every rib, which you can in that pic, and his chest looks sunken rather than the barrel shape a DDB should have.
Still, hopefully it's nothing that a good diet and proper exercise won't sort out. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
We think he is a little thin too, but love and good regular feeding will soon sort him out.
I wouldn't want him too big, a big lump now...lol
I have had some good chats with the original owner, and gained a friend ithink.
They will not give he amber back so we have both reported them to the RSPCA and police. we will have to wait to see what happens now.
I have sent an email asking for my money back to cover vet bills, as yet no reply( not really expecting one).
Will post a few more pics so you can see him properly.0 -
the odd tin of cat food will help put meat on his bones (high fat content) when we first brought Sophie home she wouldn't eat anything and we tried the lot chicken tinned dog food stuff from the vets and then out vet said try cat food and it worked - had to spoon feed her at the first and then for about 6 weeks till we got her onto dog food and she hasn't looked back but i think your fella is now on the right road :T :j :T
