There's no need to install VLC..just install XP Codec Pack which contains all the CODECS you'll ever need to play anything in Windows Media Player.

VLC currently has a major security bug in it - I'd not trust it on Windows.0 -
Never had any problems running it on XP, Vista or a Mac so far.

does anybody have a link for a codec pack for vista. i have a few vids ive downloaded that wont play and i get an error msg in windows media about codecs.0
