Cant play any video whatsoever

Hi all,

I am running windows xp, fully up to date service packs and also fully updated with everything else that microsoft wants to download to my pc.

I have just been transferring some still pics and some video from my samsung digital camera to my pc, and when I have tried to play the video, using wondows media player nothing happens.

The video player screen appears, and the progress bar runs alomg the bottom, but nothing plays at all, the screen stays black.

I think that the camera uses mpeg4 for video compression

When I have tried to play an older video, nothing happens there also. Bu@@er

I don't think WMP supports MPeg 4? (Could be wrong though!) Have you tried playing it using Quick Time?

Yes, I have and I get an error message that says that required compressor could not be found.

You could always download the vlc player - copes with most things I have found

I will do that right now.

It is weird though because a couple of weeks ago everything was fine.

I do not do any illegal downloading at all, I don't download any music or video whatsoever, I don't file share, basically I dont do any daft stuff at all.
